"You will be oppressed and robbed continually, with no one to come to your aid. Though you betroth a wife, another man will have her. Though you build a house, you will not live in it. Though you plant a vineyard, you will not enjoy its fruits. Your ox will be slaughtered before your eyes, and you will not eat of its flesh.
Your ass will be stolen in your presence, but you will not recover it. Your flocks will be given to your enemies, with no one to come to your aid. Your sons and daughters will be given to a foreign nation while you look on and grieve for them in constant helplessness.
A people whom you do not know will consume the fruit of your soil and of all your labor, and you will be oppressed and crushed at all times .. until you are driven mad by what your eyes must look upon. The Lord will strike you with malignant boils of which you cannot be cured, on your knees and legs, and from the soles of your feet to the crown of your head." Deuteronomy 28:30- 35
The words within these lines of scripture explicitly tell of Israelite enslavement among the nations of the earth. Here again, is a case and point where complete fulfillment of this awful decree (Deuteronomy 28) is witnessed through what has become known as the Altantic slave trade. While it can be said that other people have also been enslaved, there can be no argument against the fact that Blacks have experienced all of the curses, in their entirety. So-called Negroes alone lost knowledge of themselves, their language and history as a people in their enslavement. Thus we, the Israelites, have become a by-word and a proverb as stated in the scirpture.
When the scriptures say the Lord would bring us to a nation, it is merely an indication that the Creator would orchestrate historical events which would manifest the prophecies. However, the cause of these events and the source which would permit this to happen would be God himself.
To the dismay of many, even the spiritual confusion created though false worship, serving strange gods of wood and stone in various foreign religions, was also manifested by the hand and will of God as stated in the same verse of Deut. 28:36. There is a wonder, a reproach and horror towards so-called Negroes which exists in the minds of the nations which God Almighty has caused to take us as their captives The Black Man and Woman's entire historical experience must be viewed as the fulfillment of Israelite prophecy as recorded in the Old Testament.
Israel, the chosen or the Holy people, whose purpose was to be an honorable people of an upright character and as such a righteous nation, fell into dishonor and unrighteousness by performing deeds completely out of character. This made us unworthy of bearing the name associated with God Almighty.
Today, we are called everything except who we are, a child or people of God. Our true name and identification, Israelite, has been removed by God through our enslavement among foreign peoples. Our country became the possession of foreigners while our people became their human property.
We were told by God in Deut. 28:41 that our sons and daughters would not remain with us but instead would go into captivity. In the foreign land we were broken in spirit through plagues of oppression, humiliation and torture.
In America, as aliens migrate into the country they continue to rise higher and higher above us while we sink lower and lower, crying out for more civil rights. Many of the rights gained only a few years ago are being reversed today.
All the curses outlined in Deuteronomy 28 have come upon us in constant pursuit to overwhelm us until we were destroyed as a nation. Why? Because we would not hearken to the voice of the Lord YHWH, our God. In other words, we did not obey God in keeping the commandments given to us. Verse 46 states, that these very curses would light upon us and our children as a sign and a wonder for all time. The state and condition of the African in the diaspora is the sign.
Indeed, Blacks are able to identify with the history of slavery within the last four hundred years but our people cannot make the proper link with their history prior to this time. According to Deut. 28:49 the worst treatment would come from remote lands and distant countries of our enslavement among nations whose languages we would not understand.
The Western Hemisphere became the place. These people would be of a fierce countenance and would show neither respect for the old nor pity for the young. Careful examination of history indicates that Israelites or Black folk have been "hand-me-down-slaves" for thousands of years within the Eastern and Western hemispheres.
Deuteronomy 28:47 says that since we would not serve the Lord, meaning we did not accept the responsibility given to us by the Creator, we were punished. This was the very purpose for which the Creator delivered us from the Egyptian bondage. We were to be an example of a righteous nation. Our enemies were allowed by the Creator to put an iron yoke around our necks and retain us as slaves until they destroyed us. Why?
As a result of the ingratitude, lack of appreciation, and for the lack of knowledge. In contemporary times the average Black person has no clue as to what happened in our distant past, which is the reason for our present down trodden state of being. The Creator never intended for us to be "successful" in the lands of our chastisement. Nor did the Creator intend to destroy us completely. The Almighty never sought our annihilation off the earth, but rather to place us in a hostile environment among foreign enemies, to cause us to turn our eyes homeward.
