No one needs to tell us, that the Creator has said through the mouth of the prophets, that he will make a full end of the nations to which Yisrael was scattered. As the nations prepare for the upcoming WCAR conference on racism, more of the grass roots and even city councils around the nation are taking up the reparations banner. This is the opportunity we who want to go home have been waiting for. The Lawkeepers has already outlined on our website how we plan to use the reparations funds received to build a torah based community of Yisraelites in Jordan. But will you be there? We sent out email for all who identify with our purpose, goals and objectives, to identify yourself to us. We even created a database for that very purpose. So far we have recieved very little response. We have recieved an untold number of responses to the articles on the website and that is good. All Praises to the Holy One. But very little response to let us know you want to be apart of our community in Jordan. As the above verses mention,  the Holy One will save us "the seed" from captivity. but the question remains. Will you be there?

Cinnamon Raisin Scones
Serve these relatively low-fat treats for breakfast with fresh oranges and plenty of your favorite hot beverage.

 1 cup whole-wheat pastry flour
 1 cup unbleached all-purpose flour
 1 tablespoon baking powder
 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
 1/4 teaspoon salt
 1/2 of a 10- to 12-ounce block firm silken tofu, crumbled
 1 tablespoon canola oil
 2 tablespoons Spectrum Naturals Spread
 1/4 cup soy milk
 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
 1/2 cup raisins

1.  Preheat oven to 425° F.
2.  Whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Set aside.
3.  In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together tofu, canola oil, and Spectrum Naturals Spread until a bit creamy. Whisk in soy milk and maple syrup. Add flour mixture and raisins, and stir until just combined.
4.  Turn dough out onto a floured board, and roll or pat to a circle about 1/2-inch thick (this dough is very soft, so be generous with the flour to prevent sticking). Use a sharp knife to cut dough into 12 triangular wedges. Transfer wedges to an ungreased baking sheet, and bake for 15 minutes, or until scones are lightly browned.
Makes 12 scones.

Double Chocolate Spice Brownies
These brownies are oooh so chocolately and not too sweet with an exotic touch of spice. For Double Chocolate Brownies, omit the cinnamon and cardamom.
 1/4 cup soy milk
 2 tablespoons canola oil
 1 tablespoon (packed) Ener-G powdered Egg Replacer
 1/2 cup whole-wheat pastry flour
 1/2 cup Sucanat or sugar
 1/4 cup cocoa powder
 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
 small pinch of salt
 1 cup dairy-free chocolate chips

1.  Preheat oven to 350é F. Oil an 8-inch square baking pan; set aside.
2.  In a small mixing bowl, whisk together soy milk, canola oil, and Egg Replacer until thick and foamy. Set aside.
3.  In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together flour, Sucanat, cocoa powder, cinnamon, cardamom, and salt. Add soy milk mixture and chocolate chips, and stir to combine.
4.  Transfer batter into prepared pan. Use a spatula to spread the batter evenly to the edges of the pan. Bake for 20 minutes. Cool for 10 minutes before cutting into 12 pieces.

Makes 12 brownies.

Roasted Garlic Soybean Hummus
Made with soybeans instead of the traditional garbanzo beans, this hummus is rich with the taste of roasted garlic. Make it thick to spread on bread or crackers, or thin to use as a dip for veggies or chips.

 3 large cloves garlic
 1 1/2 cups cooked soybeans
 2 tablespoons roasted sesame tahini
 1 tablespoon olive oil
 1 tablespoon lemon juice
 1/2 cup fresh parsley
 salt to taste
 1 to 4 tablespoons water or vegetable broth
 

1.  Preheat broiler. Broil garlic cloves for 5 to 10 minutes, or until they just begin to brown and can be pierced easily with a fork.
2.  In a food processor, combine garlic with soybeans, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice and parsley. Blend until smooth, adding salt to taste and water or broth to reach desired consistency.

Makes about 1 1/2 cups.

Easy Soybean Patty for One
Home alone? This moist pattty can be enjoyed on a bun with all the usual condiments, or by itself drizzled with your favorite sauce. Simply multiply the ingredients to serve a crowd.

 1/2 cup cooked soybeans, mashed well with a fork
 1 tablespoon water or vegetable broth
 1 tablespoon wheat germ
 1/4 teaspoon Spike or other all-purpose seasoning
 1 to 2 tablespoons fresh bread crumbs or whole-wheat flour
 olive oil for cooking

1.  In a bowl, combine mashed soybeans, water or broth, wheat germ, Spike and 1 tablespoon bread crumbs or flour. Use your hands to mix well and press firmly into a patty shape, adding more bread crumbs or flour if necessary for the patty to hold together.
2.  Heat a little olive oil in a skillet. Cook patty until browned on both sides gently turning once.

Makes 1 patty.

Soybean and Eggplant Summer Gratin
This recipe began with an idea for vegetarian moussaka, and evolved into a simple and colorful summer casserole that's good warm or at room temperature. You can substitute garbanzo beans for the soybeans.
 1 tablespoon olive oil
 1 onion, chopped
 3 cloves garlic, minced
 3 4-inch baby eggplants or 1 medium eggplant, trimmed and diced in 1/2-inch pieces
 1/2 teaspoon paprika
 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
 1/4 teaspoon salt
 6 plum or roma tomatoes, chopped
 1 1/2 cups cooked soybeans
 1 1/2 cups fresh bread crumbs

1.  Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
2.  Sauté onion and garlic in olive oil for 1 minute. Add eggplant, and sauté for 5 to 10 minutes, or until eggplant is soft. Stir in paprika, nutmeg and salt.
3.  Transfer contents of saute pan to a 2 1/2-quart casserole dish. Add chopped tomatoes and soybeans, and stir to combine. Sprinkle bread crumbs over the top.
4.  Bake casserole, covered, for 30 minutes. Uncover, and bake 15 more minutes, or until top is lightly browned.

Makes 4 to 6 servings.

Baked-tofu-cutlets recipe

Baked Tofu Cutlets from D. Ornish - Eat More Weigh Less. (This is probably
closest to those you can buy)

16 ounces firm tofu
 4 Tbs. fresh lime juice
 4 Tbs. soy sauce
 1 tsp. honey
 1 tsp. minced fresh gingerroot
 1 tsp. minced garlic
 1 tsp. chili sauce

1.  Preheat the oven to 350F.
2.  Slice the tofu into 4 slices lengthwise. Set aside.
3.  In a flat pan or nonstick baking dish just large enough to hold the slices
     in a single layer, combine the lime juice, soy sauce, honey, ginger, garlic and      chili sauce.
4. Place the tofu in the marinade and refrigerate for at least 2 or up to 6 hours, turning occasionally.

5.  Remove the dish from the refrigerator and bring to room temperature. Bake for 45 minutes.

Makes 4 servings.

EDITORIAL PERSPECTIVE:

There is no doubt that we are in the days of Jacob’s Troubles:

“And these are the words that the LORD spake concerning Israel and concerning Judah.

“For thus saith the LORD; We have heard a voice of trembling, of fear, and not of peace.

“Alas!  For that day is great, so that none is like it:  it is even the time of Jacob’s trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.”   Jeremiah 30:4,5,7

In these times of death, fear, chaos, and terror all over the World, most people in their right minds seek solace in their faith.  Hopefully they seek after the GOD of Moses, the Only True and Living GOD.  In any case, those of us who know GOD, HIS Truth, and who seek HIS Paths of Righteousness are on a Mission to bring this All-Mighty GOD back into the news and into the hearts of those who seek HIM.

Being descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, we are a Covenant People with only ONE REASON for being.  We were born to show forth the Praises of the Most High GOD of Abraham and Moses and demonstrate HIS Ways of True Righteousness.

“And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.

“Neither shall thy name any be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.

“And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.”   Genesis 17:1,5,7

“This people have I formed for myself; they shall show forth my praise.”   Isaiah 43:21

“…ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and none else:  and my people shall never be ashamed.”  Joel 2:27

“You only have I known of all the families of the earth:  therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.”   Amos 3:2

“Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people:  for all the earth  is mine:"   Exodus 19:5

“And the LORD hath avouched [declared] thee this day to be his peculiar people, as he hath promised thee, and that thou shouldest keep all his commandments;”
Deuteronomy 26:18

Given all the above Scripture, unequivocally, we are GOD’s Chosen People, and we have no choice but to represent Our GOD of Abraham in Truth and in Righteousness.  Otherwise, we won’t be so blessed to be saved out of these troublous times spoken of in Jeremiah 30th Chapter.

Because our forebears forsook this Great GOD and flatly refused to keep HIS Laws, Statutes, and Judgments and did not honor the Covenant HE made with them, we, their descendants, consequently, had to be cast into our enemies’ lands until we returned to HIM and HIS Law (Deuteronomy 30th Chapter).   And we have been suffering from great oppression and affliction since the days of Ezra and Nehemiah, who were the leaders of the Judahites that were last to reside in our homeland before the Grecians removed them far from their borders (Joel 3:6).  When the last of these Israelites were taken from the land, this Great GOD of Abraham ceased to communicate with them or with anyone for that matter, until now.

“Her gates are sunk into the ground; he hath destroyed and broken her bars:  her king and her princes are among the Gentiles:  the law is no more; her prophets also find no vision from the LORD.”   Lamentations 2:9

Few people realize that after the Judahites were taken into captivity and removed from the land (around 400-300 B.C.E.), that Our GOD ceased to send visions to Prophets - any Prophets!  It was at this time, that religious zealots, Xtians, and all other believers in false gods had no choice but to lie and say that they were “inspired” to do this or that because they certainly weren’t receiving any messages from the True and Living GOD!  GOD DOES NOT LIE!   HE NO LONGER SENT WORD OR PROVIDED VISIONS TO HIS PEOPLE OR TO ANY OTHER NATIONS.  HE just sat back and waited for the full extent of HIS Curses to befall HIS People and for them/us to return to HIM in Righteousness under HIS Law.

However, the times have now changed.  The Most High GOD of Hosts has returned to those of us who seek to follow HIS Ways of Righteousness.  How do I know?  I know because HE has been with me, in ways that involve more than just inspiration.   And I am not so naïve as to believe that I am the only one.  I know better.  Obviously, only the Holy ONE of Israel has permitted knowledge of HIS Truth to be more widespread than ever.   I also know that we are the ones who have the potential to resolve our dilemma.   Yes, without a doubt, it’s all up to us.  Many say that they are waiting on YIHOVAH, but please, I beg of you to realize that Our GOD is waiting on us!!!  HE IS WAITING ON US TO WAKE UP AND CHANGE OUR WHOLE MANNER OF THINKING AND TURN TO HIM WITH A CONTRITE SPIRIT.

We need to be on our knees begging for forgiveness for the sins of our forefathers, as well as for our sins.  We should be on our knees praying for Our GOD to put HIS Laws and Spirit in our hearts, so that we can begin again to do all that we were formed to do.

For more than a month now, I have stressed how important it is for us to get serious, focus on that which matters, and work towards making our hearts right with Our GOD and preparing ourselves to show forth HIS Praise, so that the World will know and realize that the GOD, YIHOVAH, is GOD and that there is none else.  For this to manifest, as it did in the days of the Prophet Moses, we will need to be joined together under GOD’s Law and do all that YIHOVAH has already required and set before us.

If we are truly, truly earnest in this endeavor to live Righteously, we will not sow among thorns, not be a part of evil deeds, not deal with the unrighteous, and not speak of YIHOVAH with our lips and also succumb to all manner of sins and abominations.   This evil and wickedness thrives (even among Hebrew Israelites) abundantly and casts an ugly shadow on the Holy ONE and HIS Righteous Ways to serve and worship HIM.   Actually, in this respect, the guilty parties profane GOD’s Holy Name (Ezekiel 36:21).  Being GOD’s Covenant People means that we must be about representing and Exalting HIM and HIS Law with absolute uprightness.  And oh yes, when we see that something is right to do, we cannot be swayed from that which is in our hearts just because we are in the minority.  Although there are many calling themselves Hebrew Israelites, they do not fear YIHOVAH to do HIS Will, but rather they seek to fulfill their own agendas and recognition of their own magnification.   In this respect, the good news is that when leaders and others choose to do evil, the Holy ONE will bring it to fruition for all to see the true colors of those who deceive and lead the innocent astray.   Our job is to realize what Our GOD is doing and abandon such environments, so as not to be influenced by them.  The Holy ONE does not abide in the camps of the unrighteous, so why should we?

The Seed of Jacob that is called by the Most High GOD knows exactly what we must be about, and it isn’t about fish fries, dances, or endless conferences that have no ultimate purpose.  I would go so far as to say that even these “Unity Shabbats” are in gross error!  And the reason is that GOD’s Holy Sabbath Day is a Day of Rest, and travel on this day is absolutely forbidden.

“But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God:  in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidseervant may rest as well as thou.”   Deuteronomy 5:14

Hence, do not permit anyone, leader or otherwise, to tell you that it is permissible to use your car and/or public transportation on GOD’s Seventh Day of Rest, because according to the Law, it isn’t.   If we want to find favor with Our GOD, we must follow HIS Law, and the Law says that we must “abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day” (Exodus 16:29).   [Please see the Message on The LawKeepers’ WebSite entitled “ARE WE OBSERVING GOD’s HOLY SABBATH ACCORDING TO HIS WORD?!”]

Again, those of us who know GOD are on a Mission, and it entails total worship of the Most High GOD of Abraham and living and doing HIS Law in Righteousness to the best of our ability in order to be in a righteous state necessary to be HIS Light for HIS Exaltation.  And we know that this is the ONLY WAY to get the attention of Our GOD.

“Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts:  and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.”   Isaiah 55:7

Our Mission was set in stone a long, long time ago, and we are behind in fulfilling our charge to Love Our GOD, Keep HIS Law, Exalt HIM, and show forth HIS Praise before the World.  My People, we have got to return home for it is from there that we will be given further instructions for this latter day - for these troublous times.

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

“Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.

“And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

”And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.”

“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.“  Jeremiah 33:3

The “he goats” must go home to prepare the way for those to come!  I await those who truly fear YIHOVAH and seek to establish HIS Law in Righteousness in the land in preparation for those who will return.

I personally, profess that during the Grecian Empire the Judahites (true descendants of Jacob) were forced into exile, and those calling themselves “Jews” during this period and throughout the Roman Era were Edomites and other thousands of converts to “Judaism.”   There is a Message on The LawKeepers WebSite to that effect entitled:  “Detailed Evidence that Proves the Remnant of Judah was Taken into Captivity During the Grecian Empire.”  In support of this revelation is information about the Maccabees usurping the name/lineage of King David:

FOURTH  ENTRY:

C H A P T E R    4
 

     Sunday finally came and the Knights were due to arrive at two o'clock that afternoon.  Everyone had willingly taken part in
cleaning the house.  James and Hattie didn't even mind the rap music that filled the house as they all busied themselves.  Bobby
had even made up his own words to a popular rap tune:

     The eyes of the people be opened
     The Masons be Jews they be hopened

     pooh, pooh, pooh
     pooh-pooh-pooh-pooh

     Now listen to the deal
     We're going home to Israel
 

     pooh, pooh, pooh
     pooh-pooh-pooh-pooh

James and Hattie looked at each other and burst out laughing.

     There was a snack spread on the rickety-makeshift cocktail table that looked nice with the help of the pretty table cloth that
Hattie had starched and ironed.  James cautioned the children to permit the guests a chance to enjoy the crackers and cheese and
other things they were serving.  Bobby, with his modern day wit and bottomless stomach said, "Now, if I had Moses' staff, I'd part this
table into two sections and stack each one with enough cheese and crackers to feed a multitude.  Second thought, so long as the power
would be in me, for entertainment, I'd have the Fat Boys, Bobby Brown, and..."

     "Bobby," shouted Hattie, "when the Knights get here, please turn off that radio and lay all rapping to rest.  Thank you."
     "Mama, they're coming," screamed Thomas.  "How do I look?"

     "You look just like Thomas Mason to me," retorted Bobby.
     "You look just fine, Thomas," said Hattie as she scowled at Bobby.

     Lizzy and Maggie were busy putting the finishing touches, a bow, in Maggie's hair and clamping her very special imitation pearls around her neck.  Jonathon and Bobby stood to the side watching and mocking the girls as they ran from room to room in a frenzy trying to be ready by the time the Knights reached the front door.

     Jacob's knock at the door broke the suspense and brought deafening silence.  James opened the door and invited the Knights
to come in and feel at home.  Miriam walked in first and the children and Jacob followed.  Hattie and Lizzie took their coats.
Maggie's mouth hung open and the words, "She's beautiful!" rang out.

     Miriam wore a floor-length dress that appeared to come from Africa.  But that was not the main attraction.  Her face was black,
and her eyes and smile were so beautiful that no one could take their eyes off of her.  She wore very little make-up and was
adorned with stunning earrings that called attention to themselves every time she moved her head.  Maggie, who was of a light-brown
complexion whispered to Lizzy that she wished she could be as black and as gorgeous as this woman.  Sharon went straight to Maggie,
smiled and said, "Hi."  Obviously, she was as excited about the visit as the Masons.

     Both of the men introduced their wives and children with pride.  Afterward, the guests seated themselves and James sat on
the floor across from Jacob and told all of them to help themselves to some snacks.  Miriam sat in a chair next to Hattie, and they
were already involved in a discussion on sewing.  Hattie was amazed to learn that Miriam had made her dress and had done so without the
aid of a pattern.

     The children sat for a few minutes and then grouped themselves in the kitchen talking about school, basketball, and of course rap
music.  Salem, the Knight's older boy, a senior in high school, wanted to study agriculture in college.  It didn't take long to
realize that he was an ambitious and intelligent young man.  He was very disheartened over the lack of food for the peoples in Africa.
He told them that just because one lives in areas where there isn't much rain doesn't mean that the people of that area have to starve.
Salem cited Israel, and said that their irrigation system enabled them to grow food in the desert.  Bobby asked him if he would ever
travel to Israel.  Salem told him that it was his dream to live in Israel, and that one day it would come true.  He told them that his
father had visited Israel and had fallen in love with the country
.
Maggie was so thrilled to hear this that she vowed that she, too, would one day go to Israel because she wanted more than just to
hear about it; she wanted to see the land for herself.  Lizzie was taking in all this talk about a place she had only recently longed
to see and promised herself that she'd go to the library on Monday to see if they had any literature on the Land of Israel.  Bobby
asked the inevitable question which was, "Do they sing rap music in Israel?"  All the children laughed.  Salem told him that he did
not know that but did know that Israel had black players on its basketball team.  Jonathon couldn't contain himself.  He dominated
the conversation with all kinds of questions about Israel.  He wanted to know about their school system, politics, and social
life.  Salem had read many books on Israel and, as a result, was able to answer all of their questions.  Lizzie and Maggie were
quite impressed.

     Mi-cha-ale and Thomas played nicely together.  Pearl helped Thomas show off his precious rock collection.  Salem commended him
on his hobby and told him that some of his stones might be valuable, and that he should have the collection appraised.  Thomas
was too thrilled to hear that and looked at each stone more closely hoping to find gold or diamonds.  As the children talked, they
could hear their fathers laughing hysterically about something.

     James was now seated in the chair adjacent to Jacob.  The two men were laughing about one of Jacob's experiences in Israel.
     "Yeah, man, I've been called many things but never have I been called 'Cooshie' before," said Jacob.  After questioning a man who
spoke English fluently, he told Jacob that "Cooshie" was formed from the word "Cush," a people of the seed of Ham spoken of in the
Bible.  Although "Cooshie" was a racist slur, Jacob told James that he could appreciate the name as it at least identified Blacks,
African or otherwise, as being somebody of significance.  Jacob told James that African-Americans who had no knowledge of Black
History didn't have a true sense of self-esteem or concern for their people, and therefore, couldn't take pride in being Black.
     James asked Jacob if Blacks lived in Israel.  He told James that they did.  Some were Bedouins who roamed the deserts of Israel
and identified themselves as Arabs.  Others were Black Jews from the states who had sneaked into the country and had had many
problems being accepted by the Israeli government but had also brought many of these problems upon themselves.  A few Years ago,
the Israeli government secretly airlifted Falasha Jews or Ethiopian Jews from Ethiopia in their attempts to prove that they weren't
racist.  The Falashas willingly complied with the Israeli demand that they convert.  What's most unusual is that these Black Jews
have been known to keep God's Laws for hundreds of years.  Why they agreed to conversion is still a mystery to me.
     Jacob expressed sadness when relaying to James that the Israeli government did not accept Black Jews from the United States
as being Israelites unless they converted to Judaism.  This puzzled James, and he asked, "Well, why didn't they convert and settle the
problem?"
     "James, it's a complex issue.  First of all, we are the Children of Israel, already, and we don't need history to record
false information.  We are born Hebrews and not through conversion

Realize too, that although this "White Jew" (Esau) is our brother, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob established His covenant with
us (Israel).  In addition to that, Judaism is not an acceptable religion in the eyes of the God of Abraham.  Like the New
Testament, the Talmud and the Mishneh Torah are also written by religious zealots who assumed themselves to be inspired by God.
But what's worse is that these Judaic rabbis, as they are called, have established their own rules and regulations regarding their
religion.  You must understand, that God made it plain that the Children of Israel were never to add or to take away from his law.
That's why we observe the seventh day Sabbath, which is a sign between God and his people (Exodus 31:17), God's dietary laws and
the holy days outlined in the book of Leviticus.  Of course it's impossible to observe all God's statutes and judgments outlined in
the Bible in the land of our captors, but we can do our best.  God realizes that we are in another man's country and that we must obey
the laws of this land.  However, God has made it possible for us to choose our Hebrew way of life and to live it the best we can,
even in the United States.  With Judaism, you have the Ultra-Orthodox, the Orthodox, and the Reform ways of life, and these
differences don't pose a real controversy with these people.  It's nothing to find members of a synagogue employed, washing their
cars, or working in their yards on the Sabbath.  There appears to be some type of agreement in reform Judaism somewhere that allows
this behavior.  Why, these people even have Bar Mitzvahs and Bat Mitzvahs (a celebration that they established which states that
boys and girls at the age of thirteen must begin to observe religious customs) on the Sabbath.  But for sure, the God of Israel
does not permit such activity on the Sabbath day.  So, you see, James, we don't really want to be converted to Judaism.  We can
wait until it's time for God to make the decision for us to return home, and when he does, there will be nothing the Israeli
government or anyone else can do about it.

     "I might add, just because the Israeli government does not recognize Black Americans as being Israelites, that anyone with the
desire to worship the God of Israel can do so and without conversion.  All God required was that the strangers' males be
circumcised (Exodus 12:48 and 49), and that they keep His laws.

     James thought to himself that if God wasn't on the side of us black people, that we didn't have a chance.  "Well, Jacob," said
James, "how soon do you think it will be before we can freely return to Israel?"

     "To be truthful, James, I could leave your house right now and go straight to the boat, jet, or whatever is headed for Israel,
but it's just not like that.  I do not know.  Sometimes I just want to pack up and go, but I realize that it's just not time, yet.  We
can only hope and pray that it will be soon.

     "When I was in Israel, it was unreal how close I felt to my God.  Perhaps because He said that His eyes and His heart shall be
there perpetually.  In Israel, I had emotional experiences that I've never felt here in the states.  These were feelings that I
can't quite explain.  All I know is that when I prayed to the Holy One of Israel, He heard me.  And I prayed that He'd send for his
people.  All I can think about is going back to Israel, James. That's all I can think about."

     "Tell me, Jacob, if I prayed to the God of Israel, do you think He would hear me?  I've only just learned about Him, you
know.  And believe me, I've never wanted to know so much about God as I have these past few days."
     "Pray to Him, James.  I'm very serious.  If you're sincere, as I'm sure you are, He will hear you.  But realize that it's the
custom of the Hebrews to pray toward Jerusalem.  After King Solomon built and dedicated the temple to the God of Israel, he asked God
that if the Israelites prayed toward His chosen city, Jerusalem, and toward the temple he built would He hear in heaven their prayer
and their supplication and maintain their cause even if they were in their enemy's land (I Kings 8:44-53).  It's a beautiful prayer,
James.  Read it.  It gives me hope, stamina, and patience to wait on my God."

     "I've never been a man of prayer, Jacob," said James, "because I never knew what to pray for except money.  I've always tried to
do what's right by other people so long as they kept their drugs away from my family and me.  I guess I've been ignorant in thinking
that God only wanted us to treat others as we ourselves wanted to be treated.  I realize now, that just as we expect our children to
obey us, God, likewise, wants His people to obey him.  It makes sense, Jacob."
 

     "Man, look at the time," exclaimed Jacob as he rose from his seat.  "It's almost 9:30, and it seems like we just got here.  I
really didn't mean to wear out my welcome, James, but I have enjoyed visiting with you, really I have."
 
 "Jacob, since I met you, I've talked about nothing but the Bible, directly or indirectly, and I could talk about it for the
rest of the night.  Doesn't seem like anyone is ready to go to bed, anyway.  But I know we've got to go to work tomorrow.  But promise
me we'll get together again soon."

     "You've got a deal, James.  I like talking about the Bible, myself.  It helps to keep me on the right track," Jacob said with
a smile. "Jacob gathered his clan together and thanked both James and Hattie for a very enjoyable evening.  Hattie and Lizzie gave them
their coats, and the two men shook hands and said they'd see each other in the morning while the children reluctantly strolled out
the door saying their good-byes.  Hattie and Miriam hugged and said that they'd be seeing each other real soon.
 
After they had left, Hattie couldn't wait to talk about her exciting new friend.  "What a beautiful and talented lady Miriam
is," said Hattie.  "She sews her husband's and boys' shirts and is going to teach me how to sew, too.  Gosh, now, I've got to save up
for a typewriter for Lizzie and a sewing machine for myself if I'm going to learn to sew like Miriam.  Maybe, I can find a good used
typewriter and sewing machine at the rummage store at reasonable prices.  And, guess what else, James," before he even had a chance
to answer her.  "Miriam works at the cleaners on 63rd street as a seamstress.  She said she works to help make ends meet, and that
Jacob wanted to go on a trip to Israel so badly that she saved up enough money to send him for his fortieth birthday, last year."
     "Yeah, baby, he was telling me about it.  Jacob is an interesting man and so knowledgeable about Israel."
     "You should have heard Salem, said Jonathon.  I don't think there's anything he doesn't know about Israel."
     The Masons spent another hour talking about their warm encounters with the Knights, and then Hattie reminded them all that
they had work and school the next day.  To her surprise, she had to keep reminding James, as he wanted to talk a hole in her head
going on and on about what he'd do if he went to Israel.  Finally, she was able to ease out of the living room by putting up the food
and by seeing if the kids were all tucked away in bed.  "Knocked out cold," said Hattie.  "They must have really been exhausted."
     As she was headed for her bedroom, she could see James sitting on the sofa deep in thought.  Hattie knew what was on his mind.
Finding this new God, the God of Israel, really had an impact on him.  She had never seen James so curious about God before.  But
she didn't care as she, too, was interested in this great God who had sent black folks to the United States and to other parts of the
world.  Hattie knew that God had to have once loved His people to punish them as He had done.  She promised herself that she'd do
everything she could to get on God's good side if He'd watch over her and her family.  She told herself that God had a reason for
creating man and this earth and that people had to learn to do His will.  After all, you can't argue with God or go against Him
because He is the Creator.

     Hattie quickly put on her sleeping gown and slipped into bed.  As she lay there she asked her new God to give her understanding
to be a good Hebrew wife and mother.  She smiled to herself because the last time she had prayed, whenever that was, it was to win the
lottery.  Then Hattie thought to herself, "Well, if what I've learned about the God of Israel is true, then I've hit the jackpot."  With that, she fell off to sleep.
