UNITED STATES of AMERICA SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 26

THE U.S. SENATES’s APOLOGY FOR SLAVERY

The United States government made a feeble attempt to tell the truth about the origins of this nation by the Senate “order to hold at the desk” a non-effectual low level document on Thursday, June 18th.

The following material consists of a definition of the term used to describe the Senates’s action to better understand what exactly was done.  The definition is followed by the obligatory speech by the spokesman for the sponsor(s) of the senate action (S. Con. Res. 26 was co-sponsored by 43 senators).  The final section of this message is the actual wording of the “Resolution” itself so that all can review the depth and scope of the apology.

Concurrent Resolutions:

Concurrent resolutions, which are designated H.Con. Res. or S.Con. Res., and followed by a number, must be passed in the same form by both houses, but they do not require the signature of the president and do not have the force of law. Concurrent resolutions are generally used to make or amend rules that apply to both houses. They are also used to express the sentiments of both of the houses. For example, a concurrent resolution is used to set the time of Congress’ adjournment. It may also be used by Congress to convey congratulations to another country on the anniversary of its independence. Another important use of the concurrent resolution is for the annual congressional budget resolution, which sets Congress’ revenue and spending goals for the upcoming fiscal year.

Senator Thomas Harkin’s (D. IOWA) Speech:

Madam President, the clerk just read for the first time ever in this body what we should have done a long time ago. An apology for slavery and the Jim Crow laws which, for a century after emancipation, deprived millions of Americans their basic human rights, equal justice under law and equal opportunities. Today the Senate will unanimously make that apology.

“I, first of all, want to thank my friend, Senator Sam Brownback, for all of his hard work and over the last couple of years working together to get this finally to this point. I can’t thank him enough. He wouldn’t give up and stuck in there all the time working to make sure that this day would come. And I thank him profusely for his help in this effort. I also want to publicly thank Congressman Steve Cohen on the House side, who is the leader of this resolution that they will be passing soon over there.

“John Quincy Adams once remarked our country began existence by the universal emancipation of man from the thralldom of man.” America’s purpose can be summed up in that one powerful sentence. “We hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal, endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” As we all know, for too long, many in this country were not free. Many lived in bondage. Many Americans were denied their basic human rights and liberty.

“From 1619 to 1865, over 4 million Africans and their descendents were enslaved in the United States. Millions were kidnapped from their homeland, suffered unimaginable hardships including death during the voyage to America. A crime against humanity. In Elmina Castle, on the coast of Ghana, a place I recently visited, there is a chillingly named "door of no return." An infamous open portal which, as one looks over the horizon across the Atlantic, makes all too clear the excruciating inhumanity and horror faced by the men and women shackled inside this castle as they were led through that door and put on the slave ships bound for America. Led through that door enslaved, never to return to their families, their tribe or their native land.

“On American soil these individuals were treated as property. These human beings were denied basic rights, including the right to their own name and heritage, any rights to education, even the right to maintain a family were denied to them. As Chief Justice Taney sadly made all too clear in the infamous Dred Scott case, he said of African-Americans, and I quote from his decision,

[Were] not included, and were not intended to be included, under the word “citizens” in the Constitution, and [could] therefore claim none of the rights and privileges which that instrument provides for and secures to citizens of the United States. On the contrary, they were at that time considered as a subordinate and inferior class of beings, who had been subjugated by the dominant race, and, whether emancipated or not, yet remained subject to their authority, and had no rights or privileges but such as those held the power and the Government might choose to grant them.

One of the saddest decisions ever made by the Supreme Court of the United States.

“While the reconstruction amendments, the 13th amendment banning slavery, the 14th amendment granting full citizenship to all slaves, and the 15th amendment guaranteeing the right to vote supposedly signaled equality for all, widespread oppression continued. Jim Crow laws, African-Americans were denied voting rights, denied employment opportunities, denied access to public accommodations, denied entry into military service, denied criminal justice protections, denied housing, denied education, denied police protection, denied due process. In short, denied their very humanity.

“Not until the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and other federal protections did legal -- legal -- segregation effectively cease in this country. The destructive effects of both slavery and Jim Crow remain, however. As President Bush noted, “the racial bigotry did not end with slavery.” President Clinton stated that the racial divide is “America’s constant curse.” Today many African-Americans remained mired in poverty. Average incomes remain below that of white Americans. There remains an achievement gap in education and, for many, health conditions. African-Americans bear a disproportionate burden of disease and injury and death and disability. African-Americans are more over disproportionately involved with the criminal justice system in our prisons.

Recently states -- Alabama, Connecticut, Maryland, Florida, New Jersey, North Carolina, and Virginia -- enacted resolutions apologizing for the role their states played in sanctioning and promoting slavery and segregation. Corporations, such as J.P. Morgan, Aetna and Wachovia, have also acknowledged and apologized for their role in and profit from slavery.

Slavery, Jim Crow laws, and their lasting consequences, however, are an enduring national shame. It was the United States that enshrined slavery in the Constitution and protected it for nearly a century. It is Congress that passed the shameful laws such as the Missouri Compromise of 1820 and the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850, which protected and furthered slavery. It was our nation’s Supreme Court which bolstered slavery and legally sanctioned segregation, as I said, in the Dred Scott case of 1857 and Plessy v. Ferguson in 1896. The Supreme Court said we could be separate but equal. It was the federal government which was officially segregated. By 1913, all federal departments were officially -- officially -- segregated. It was the United States which kept African-Americans, who wanted nothing more than to serve their country, segregated in the military. And it wasn’t until 1948 that President Truman issued the executive order desegregating the military.

“Presidents have acknowledged the injustice of slavery. President Clinton spoke of the evils of slavery and expressed regret for America’s role in the slave trade, President Bush visited Gorey Island, a holding place for captured slaves in Africa and spoke of the wrongs and injustices of slavery calling it "one of the great crimes of history." Moreover, in 1988, Congress rightly apologized for the internment of Japanese-Americans during World War II. In1993, Congress justly apologized to native Hawaiians for overthrowing their king. The Senate has correctly apologized for its failure to enact anti-lynching legislation. And last year, as part of the Indian Health Bill, the Senate passed an amendment apologizing, rightfully so, to Native Americans.

Yet, this Congress has never offered a formal apology for slavery and Jim Crow, and it’s long past due. A national apology by the representative body of the people is a necessary collective response to a past collective injustice. So it is both appropriate and imperative that Congress fulfill its moral obligation and officially apologize for slavery and Jim Crow laws.

As we acknowledge and apologize for this great injustice, we would be remiss, however, to fail to recognize those Americans who with great courage fought to ensure that country lived up to its founding ideals. Thousands risked their lives so others could be free.

From the beginning of the republic to the present, people of all races, genders and creeds and religion have risked much, including their lives, striving for a better and more just America. It is these often nameless individuals who registered the voters in the Mississippi delta, who marched over the bridge in Selma, fought for better jobs and housing in northern cities and desegregated the lunch counters.

I point to people like Edna Griffen, John Bibbs, and Leonard Hudson. They entered a drugstore on a hot summer day in Des Moines, Iowa, and sat at a segregated lunch counter. When the manager refused to serve them because the store did not -- quote -- "serve coloreds" Miss Griffen refused to leave. Outraged Iowans responded. And they won. Edna Griffen won. The lunch counters were desegregated and who -- who -- but a handful knows of Edna Griffen or John Bibbs or Leonard Hudson? It is only because of the extraordinary acts of bravery by ordinary Americans like these, in all corners of this country, that the mightiest walls of oppression have been torn down.

“As this nation formally apologizes and acknowledges slavery and Jim Crow, we must also recognize that this nation owes these individuals, most known to only their friends and their family, an enormous debt of gratitude.

As we make this formal apology, moreover, we must acknowledge and celebrate the deep lasting contributions that slaves, former slaves, and their descendants have made to this country in every field of human endeavor: law, literature, science, medicine, arts, business, education, sports, politics. Indeed, the list goes on and on. And six months ago an African-American took the oath of office as President of the United States for the first time in our nation’s history.

“In conclusion, I want to read from the resolution so all those in the gallery and the American people will hear the long overdue words emanating from this body. Congress:

“In closing, I think it’s important to note that this resolution will soon pass by unanimous consent, which means every senator supports it without objection.

“Finally, let us make no mistake: this resolution will not fix lingering injustices. While we are proud of this resolution and believe it is long overdue, the real work lies ahead. Let us continue to work together to create better opportunities for all Americans. That is truly the best way to address the lasting legacy of slavery and Jim Crow.

“Madam President, I yield the floor.”

The Resolution:

Whereas the legacy of African-Americans is interwoven with the very fabric of the democracy and freedom of the United States; (Ordered Held at Senate Desk after being Received from House )

SCON 26 HDS

111th CONGRESS

1st Session

S. CON. RES. 26

Apologizing for the enslavement and racial segregation of African-Americans.

IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES

June 11, 2009

Mr. HARKIN (for himself, Mr. BROWNBACK, Mr. LEVIN, Mr. DURBIN, Mr. KENNEDY, Mr. LAUTENBERG, Ms. STABENOW, Mr. BOND, and Mr. COCHRAN) submitted the following concurrent resolution; which was ordered held at the desk

CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

Apologizing for the enslavement and racial segregation of African-Americans.

Whereas, during the history of the Nation, the United States has grown into a symbol of democracy and freedom around the world;

Whereas the legacy of African-Americans is interwoven with the very fabric of the democracy and freedom of the United States;

Whereas millions of Africans and their descendants were enslaved in the United States and the 13 American colonies from 1619 through 1865;

Whereas Africans forced into slavery were brutalized, humiliated, dehumanized, and subjected to the indignity of being stripped of their names and heritage;

Whereas many enslaved families were torn apart after family members were sold separately;

Whereas the system of slavery and the visceral racism against people of African descent upon which it depended became enmeshed in the social fabric of the United States;

Whereas slavery was not officially abolished until the ratification of the 13th amendment to the Constitution of the United States in 1865, after the end of the Civil War;

Whereas after emancipation from 246 years of slavery, African-Americans soon saw the fleeting political, social, and economic gains they made during Reconstruction eviscerated by virulent racism, lynchings, disenfranchisement, Black Codes, and racial segregation laws that imposed a rigid system of officially sanctioned racial segregation in virtually all areas of life;

Whereas the system of de jure racial segregation known as `Jim Crow', which arose in certain parts of the United States after the Civil War to create separate and unequal societies for Whites and African-Americans, was a direct result of the racism against people of African descent that was engendered by slavery;

Whereas the system of Jim Crow laws officially existed until the 1960s--a century after the official end of slavery in the United States--until Congress took action to end it, but the vestiges of Jim Crow continue to this day;

Whereas African-Americans continue to suffer from the consequences of slavery and Jim Crow laws--long after both systems were formally abolished--through enormous damage and loss, both tangible and intangible, including the loss of human dignity and liberty;

Whereas the story of the enslavement and de jure segregation of African-Americans and the dehumanizing atrocities committed against them should not be purged from or minimized in the telling of the history of the United States;

Whereas those African-Americans who suffered under slavery and Jim Crow laws, and their descendants, exemplify the strength of the human character and provide a model of courage, commitment, and perseverance;

Whereas, on July 8, 2003, during a trip to Goree Island, Senegal, a former slave port, President George W. Bush acknowledged the continuing legacy of slavery in life in the United States and the need to confront that legacy, when he stated that slavery `was . . . one of the greatest crimes of history . . . The racial bigotry fed by slavery did not end with slavery or with segregation. And many of the issues that still trouble America have roots in the bitter experience of other times. But however long the journey, our destiny is set: liberty and justice for all.';

Whereas President Bill Clinton also acknowledged the deep-seated problems caused by the continuing legacy of racism against African-Americans that began with slavery, when he initiated a national dialogue about race;

Whereas an apology for centuries of brutal dehumanization and injustices cannot erase the past, but confession of the wrongs committed and a formal apology to African-Americans will help bind the wounds of the Nation that are rooted in slavery and can speed racial healing and reconciliation and help the people of the United States understand the past and honor the history of all people of the United States;

Whereas the legislatures of the Commonwealth of Virginia and the States of Alabama, Florida, Maryland, and North Carolina have taken the lead in adopting resolutions officially expressing appropriate remorse for slavery, and other State legislatures are considering similar resolutions; and

Whereas it is important for the people of the United States, who legally recognized slavery through the Constitution and the laws of the United States, to make a formal apology for slavery and for its successor, Jim Crow, so they can move forward and seek reconciliation, justice, and harmony for all people of the United States: Now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the Senate (the House of Representatives concurring), That the sense of the Congress is the following:

(1) APOLOGY FOR THE ENSLAVEMENT AND SEGREGATION OF AFRICAN-AMERICANS- The Congress--

(A) acknowledges the fundamental injustice, cruelty, brutality, and inhumanity of slavery and Jim Crow laws;

(B) apologizes to African-Americans on behalf of the people of the United States, for the wrongs committed against them and their ancestors who suffered under slavery and Jim Crow laws; and

(C) expresses its recommitment to the principle that all people are created equal and endowed with inalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and calls on all people of the United States to work toward eliminating racial prejudices, injustices, and discrimination from our society.

(2) DISCLAIMER- Nothing in this resolution--

(A) authorizes or supports any claim against the United States; or

(B) serves as a settlement of any claim against the United States.

According to the days of thy coming out of the land of Egypt

will I shew unto him marvellous things.

The nations shall see and be confounded at all their might:

they shall lay their hand upon their mouth, their ears shall be deaf.

They shall lick the dust like a serpent, they shall move out of their holes

like worms of the earth: they shall be afraid of the LORD our God,

and shall fear because of thee.

Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity,

and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage?

he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.

He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities;

and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

Thou wilt perform the truth to Jacob, and the mercy to Abraham,

which thou hast sworn unto our fathers from the days of old.

Micah 7:15 – 20

***

I have the following comment:  We are not Africans nor are we Americans (i.e. we are not African-Americans).  Today there are truly Africans that are citizens of America, and they are from the various countries in Africa (a continent not a country).  We are the Nation of Yisrael, we were cast out of our homeland by YIHOVAH via the Slave Trade.  Secondly, the “Reparations” disclaimer takes all the meaning out of the apology.  I suggest that the Senate and the House of Representative “put their money where their mouth is”, if the U.S. wants to give meaning to this apology.

Tribute to the New Moon Revised:

The service of this solar/lunar calendar of TORAH READINGS is by definition using the “LIGHTS” of the sun and moon, according to Genesis 1:14, to number the “days” of each month.  And the dark phases of the moon cooperatively and conveniently provide a break between the months.  If there were no dark phases of the moon, we would have a tough time determining when one month ended and when another would begin.  Hence, because the Commandment is to use the “Lights” in the Heavens for “Signs” for seasons, days, and years, the New Moon Crescent is what provides us with our first lights of each new month and these lights continue waxing and waning until they are diminished to the dark phases.  And then in two to three days, the New Moon Crescent reappears again starting the First Day of another new month.

Realizing that even some Israelites use the dark phase of the moon to call the new month, I would like to add one obvious fact.  By definition, there can only be a “New Moon,” per se, after the dark phase interval and when the New Moon Crescent reappears, thus, we understand the concept of having a New moon.

If the dark phase of the moon begins the First Day of the month, then when the New Moon Crescent is “Sighted” that could approximately be as far into the month as the Fourth Day, i.e., the appearance of the “Light” in the Heavens could possibly fall on the Fourth Day.  It makes no sense to start to count the first dark phase of the moon as being the First Day of the month, as this process disregards the use of the “Light” in the Heavens to determine our “days,” as we are Commanded to do in Genesis 1:14.  Consider what King David said in I Samuel 20:24:  “…when the New Moon was come…”  He had to be speaking about the New Moon Crescent, as we are unable to “Sight” the appearance of the dark phase or rather see it “come.”

It’s the absence of seeing the moon for forty-eight or more hours that enables us to identify the approaching Crescent “Sign” in the Heavens (mentioned in Genesis 1:14) that recognizes the moon as being “New.”    And upon “Sighting” this “New” Crescent” we distinguish it as being the “New Moon” and the time of the New Month, as well.

PLEASE NOTE:  The Hebrew New Year is also determined by the “LIGHTS” in the Heavens and not by the “sighting of barley,” as some Black Hebrew Israelites and European “Jews” advocate.

“For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make,

shall remain before me, saith the LORD,

so shall your seed and your name remain.

“And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another,

and from one abbath to another,

shall all flesh come to worship before me,

saith the LORD.”

START THE NEXT NEW MOON WATCH ON THE EVENINGS OF

<<< JUNE 22,23,24, 2009>>>

BY LOOKING IN THE “WEST” JUST ABOVE THE HORIZON.

“He appointed the moon for seasons…”

Psalm 104:19

The first “Sign” in the Heavens to provide the start of days, years and “seasons” can only begin with the “Sighting” of the New Moon Crescent – that which we can “see” in order for it to serve as a “Sign” and enable us to begin counting our days and months.   Just imagine not being able to “see” the moon at all.  How then could it be appointed for a “Sign” or for “seasons”?

“The natural thought might be that the moon is like a living being.  It is born, grows, reaches maximum size, then fades and dies, going through all these stages in one month.  Even today, we still talk of the thin crescent in the western sky as a new moon and the thin crescent in the eastern sky a month later as the old moon.  Half way between is the full moon.  As I explained earlier, this cycle of phases of the moon established the month as a unit of time, and the first calendars were based on this.”   ISAAC ASIMOV’S GUIDE TO EARTH AND SPACE, pages 79 and 80

In that the King of Israel is supposed to be a “Righteous Judge” (II Chronicles 1:11), it stands to reason that he is also supposed to be a “Righteous Role Model.”  Thus, if the King that GOD appoints over Israel observes a “feast” on the day of the New Moon, then wisdom tells the Nation of Israel to do likewise.  King Saul and the anointed David observed this service (I Samuel 20th Chapter).

To their and our hurt our forefathers worshipped all manner of symbols:  the sun, moon, stars, and images of gold and silver.  To observe the “Sign” in the heavens as being the New Moon “Sighting” is NOT worshipping the moon, but rather it is doing as we are COMMANDED in Genesis 1:14:

“And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:”

Some people feel that the moon has no “light,” but according to GOD’s WORD to HIS Prophets, it most certainly does:  Isaiah 13:10; Isaiah 30:26; Jeremiah 31:35; Ezekiel 32:7.

“Sing aloud unto God our strength:  make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.

“Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.

“Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed,

on our solemn feast day.

“For this was a statute for Israel, and a law of the God of Jacob.”

Psalm 81:1 – 4

(A Psalm of Asaph, the Seer –

one who should be well informed about GOD’s Ways)

“Also in the day of your gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow with the trumpets over your burnt offerings,

and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be to you for a memorial before your God:  I am the LORD your God.”

Numbers 10:10

Contrary to the belief of some Israelites, the moon does indeed shine!  Even if the Moon shines with the aid of the sun, i.e., reflects the light of the sun, IT STILL SHINES!  And the fact that Scripture attests to this fact, is what’s important:  Isaiah 60:19; Jeremiah 31:35; and Ezekiel 32:7.  Therefore, Genesis 1:14 is proof enough that we must use the shining New Moon Crescents as “…SIGNS, AND FOR SEASONS, AND FOR DAYS, AND FOR YEARS:”

Some Israelites, along with White Jews, use the dark phase of the moon to determine the start of a new month.  If the dark phase of the moon lasts for “2-3 days,” then which of these days is supposed to be the distinguishing “Sign” that determines the First Day of the month?  Or do we just arbitrarily select either/or depending on the imaginations of our hearts?

On the contrary, with the use of the sighted “Sign” of the New Moon Crescent in the Heavens we eliminate any confusion as to which day IS the First Day of the month.

“So David hid himself in the field: and WHEN THE NEW MOON WAS COME, the king sat him down to eat meat.”   I Samuel 20:24

At the time of the dark phases of the moon (generally 2-3 days), as previously written, there is no “moon” in SIGHT.  Therefore, I Samuel 20:24 sheds more light on Genesis 1:14.  “WHEN THE NEW MOON WAS COME,” is clearly telling readers that this is a reference to a visible “Moon Crescent Sighting  - the light in the firmament…i.e., the “Sign” for (lunar) days.  Thus, if we are to count all the lunar days (29.5) in a month, it only makes sense to start counting from the New Moon Crescent “when the New Moon was come” and NOT from the dark phases at the end of the month, which do not emit any “sign” or “light” in the heavens.

The only problem that presents itself when using the “New Moon Sighting” to call the First Day of the month is cloud coverage, as this prevents the ability to see the New Moon Crescent.   Nonetheless, when “Sighted,” one can easily distinguish the New Moon Crescent from all the other phases due to its thin sliver and its low position in the heavens.  And the reason is that no two days or rather phases of the visible moon are alike.  Hence, to use the New Moon Crescent as the “Sign” in the heavens, as we are COMMANDED to do for our seasons, days, and years, negates the belief that the “commandment was given to the luminaries.”  The “luminaries” fulfill GOD’s Commandments:  the sun shines and the moon orbits the Earth.  They have no need to determine seasons, days, and years.  Hence, our New Moons are obviously of more spiritual significance to the Nation of Israel than we are aware.  And for sure, the TRUTH concerning them are in GOD’s WORD to HIS Prophets/Seers – not the White Jews or other Gentiles.  All we need do is use wisdom, discern what’s written in Scripture, accept it, and act accordingly!

“Then Solomon offered burnt offerings unto the LORD on the altar of the LORD, which he had built before the porch,

“Even after a certain rate every day, offering according to the commandment of Moses, on the abbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts, three times in the year, even in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles.” II Chronicles 8:12,13

Unless there is an emergency, please try not to buy or sell on this day.  Conduct all financial and business transactions prior to the day of the New Moon.  Interesting enough, II Kings 4:23,24 constitutes the New Moon as being a day to seek “the man of God.”  Although the New Moon is NOT a Day of Rest, Our GOD did set it aside for recognition:

“Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.”   Psalm 81:3

“And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.”   Isaiah 66:23

“…When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn?…   Amos 8:5

Probably, the Scripture that most determines and clarifies the fact that our New Moons are Feast Days is Ezekiel 45:17:

“And it shall be the prince’s part to give burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and drink offerings, in the feasts, and in the NEW MOONS, and in the Sabbaths, in ALL SOLEMNITIES of the house of Israel:  he shall prepare the sin offering, and the meat offering, and the burnt offering, and the peace offerings, to make reconciliation for the HOUSE OF ISRAEL.”   (Caps. are mine.)

Unequivocally, our New Moons are included in these “SOLEMNITIES” mentioned in Ezekiel 45:17.

“Likewise the people of the land shall worship at the door of this gate before the LORD in the Sabbaths [Feasts – NOT 7th Day Sabbaths*] and in the NEW MOONS.”   Ezekiel 46:3   (Brackets are mine.)

Thereby, this verse justifies the First Day of each month being our “Feast” Day.  It should be realized that the Feast Days that Our GOD selected (Leviticus 23rd Chapter) are “Holy Convocations,” i.e., on these days we cannot do any work.  However, because King Saul observed the New Moon as a Feast Day, we have every reason to do so, as well.   We also have learned that our forefathers traveled to the Temple to worship the Holy ONE on the New Moon (II Kings 4:23; Ezekiel 45:17; and Ezekiel 46:1), and when HE has HIS Temple rebuilt, then we will again be able to resume this service and worship.

When we return to our heritage and worship YIHOVAH according to HIS Ways, then we can establish our own “Calendar of the Universe,” whereby, the days of the New Moon and all GOD’s Holy Days will be recognized by the whole entire World.  And I am sure that it will be the desire of the Righteous Remnant and ALL the world to make a Feast to the Most High GOD of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob/Israel every First Day of the Month.

ALSO, I believe that if Lot (Genesis 19:3) and Abraham (Genesis 21:8) can proclaim “Feasts,” then there is no stipulation for NOT establishing Feast Days, as we so desire.  Therefore, to proclaim a feast to EXALT the Holy ONE of Israel on the First Day of each month is quite acceptable – given the Scripture (above) regarding worshipping Our LORD GOD of ISRAEL, Our SAVIOR, on the New Moons.  We should know that throughout the Tanakh Hebrew Israelites called for “feasts” for various occasions.  Therefore, we are within our rights to observe a Feast every New Moon to Our GOD, the GOD of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob/Israel.   And those of us who love this WONDERFUL GOD and who choose HIM to EXALT HIM for being the ONLY LORD and SAVIOR can be at liberty to use the day of the New Moon to show forth HIS PRAISE in a “feast” and worship HIM in Jerusalem FOREVER.

“And Solomon awoke; and, behold, it was a dream. And he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and offered up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and [he] made a feast to all his servants.”

I Kings 3:15

*Leviticus 23:24,39 (Sabbaths of Feasts)

A Tribute to GOD’s “HOLY” Seventh Day Sabbath of Complete REST – HIS WEEKLY ANNIVERSARY OBSERVANCE and SIGN between HIM and Israelites for HIS CREATION of the Heavens and the Earth:

“Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the abbath,

to observe the abbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.

It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever:

for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth,

and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.”

Exodus 31:17,18

Since we know for a fact that GOD’s Holy Seventh Day Sabbath is a “Sign” between HIM and Israel, why take any chance to profane it?  Every passage about the Holy Sabbath of COMPLETE Rest stands strong in support of GOD’s Commandment to abide in our places on the Seventh Day (Exodus 16:29) – ever last one of them – including the passage in Jeremiah where we are Commanded to “Take heed to yourselves, and bear no burden on the Sabbath day, nor bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem;  Jeremiah 17:21   (Please read verses 21 to 27.)

Perhaps the wise thing to do would be to define the word “burden.”  But more importantly, we need to determine whether or not Exodus 16:29 is a Commandment or not.  And if it is determined to be one, then we should Fear the GOD of Israel and be obedient to what HE has Commanded of us.

“But the LORD, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power

and a stretched out arm, him shall ye fear, and him shall ye worship,

and to him shall ye do sacrifice.  And the statutes, and the ordinances, and the law,

and the commandment, which he wrote for you,

he shall observe to do for ever more;

and ye shall not fear other gods.”

II Kings 17:36,37

Why must we debate that which is clearly written for us to do and for very good reason, if we will only consider and think about it?  The Holy ONE wants us to be first to observe HIS weekly Anniversary of Creation, which is to keep HIS Holy Seventh day at REST, as HE did, in order that we might be REFRESHED!

“REMEMBER THE SABBATH DAY, TO KEEP IT HOLY”

Exodus 20:8

“See, for that the LORD hath given you the abbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.”   Exodus 16:29

“And Moses gathered all the congregation of the children of Israel together, and said unto them, These are the words which the LORD hath commanded, that ye should do them.

“Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be to you an holy day, a abbath of rest to the LORD: whosoever doeth work therein shall be put to death.”  Exodus 35:1,2

“Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the abbath of rest, an holy convocation [“HOLY DAY”]; ye shall do no work therein: it is the abbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.”   Leviticus 23:3

“Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the abbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth any work in the abbath day, he shall surely be put to death. Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the abbath, to observe the abbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant. It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.”   Exodus 31:15 – 17

“And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.  And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.”   Genesis 2:2,3

Significantly, in the beginning when the Holy ONE of Israel established this Sabbath Day of COMPLETE REST and when HE clearly COMMANDED the Children of Israel in the Wilderness to observe this Holy Day, HE MADE NO EXCEPTIONS!

If “ALL” GOD’s COMMANDMENTS are sure, then for sure, we must give credence to Exodus 16:29 and abide in our places on GOD’s HOLY Seventh Day of Complete REST as we are COMMANDED TO DO!

“He hath shewed his people the power of his works, that he may give them the heritage of the heathen. The works of his hands are verity and judgment; all his commandments are sure.”   Psalm 111:7

GOD’s Holy Seventh Day Sabbath of REST is not only one of HIS Greatest WORKS of all time, but this Holy Day is an extraordinary “SIGN” between this Most High GOD, the CREATOR and HIS Chosen People, the Children of Israel!  This Seventh Day also marks the Anniversary of GOD ending the Creations of the Heavens, Earth, man, and all that is therein.

“Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.”   Genesis 2:1 – 3

“And he said unto them, This is that which the LORD hath said, Tomorrow is the rest of the holy abbath unto the LORD: bake that which ye will bake today, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning.

“See, for that the LORD hath given you the abbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.”   Exodus 16:23,29

“And the LORD said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them.”   Exodus 24:12

“Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the LORD my God commanded me, that ye should DO SO IN THE LAND whither ye go to possess it.”   Deuteronomy 4:5 (Caps. are mine.)

CONSIDER ALSO the fact that the CREATOR GOD of Israel only Commanded that we go to Jerusalem “THREE TIMES in the year”.  Had the Holy ONE wanted us to travel to Jerusalem on HIS Holy Sabbath Day of COMPLETE REST, HE would have Commanded that, as well.  Thus, given Exodus 16:29, we have to realize, understand, and accept the fact that it was never HIS intention for us to travel and/or leave our places on HIS most Holy Seventh Day.

“Three times thou shalt keep a feast unto me in the year.  Thou shalt keep the feast of unleavened bread: (thou shalt eat unleavened bread seven days, as I commanded thee, in the time appointed of the month Abib; for in it thou camest out from Egypt: and none shall appear before me emptyJ  And the feast of harvest, the firstfruits of thy labours, which thou hast sown in the field: and the feast of ingathering, which is in the end of the year, when thou hast gathered in thy labours out of the field.  Three times in the year all thy males shall appear before the Lord GOD.”   Exodus 23:14 – 17

“Three times in a year shall all thy males appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he shall choose; in the feast”   Deuteronomy 16:16

There is no Scripture indicating that Israelites traveled to Jerusalem on GOD’s HALLOWED SEVENTH DAY.

THE PLACE THAT OUR GOD OF ISRAEL CHOSE IS THE HOLY CITY JERUSALEM.

The Israelite Way of Life was set in stone in the Wilderness, as to how we are Commanded to prepare to live according to ALL GOD’s LAW, as well as for HIS Holy Seventh Day Sabbath of Complete REST, i.e., how we are supposed to keep it, as well as the consequences for profaning it.  And there are no exceptions.

CONCERNING “HOLY CONVOCATION”

The issue stemming from the meaning of “Holy Convocation” written in Leviticus 23rd Chapter is real, and the interpretation is grossly misunderstood.  “Holy Convocation” does not mean “To Gather.”  And the sin committed by traveling and gathering on the CREATOR’s Holy Sabbath of Complete REST has grave consequences (Exodus 31:12 – 18).

Conclusive evidence that “holy convocation” DOES NOT mean to assemble is provided in the passage on Passover.   In Exodus 12:16 we are told that Passover is a “holy convocation” but yet, we are Commanded to observe this High Holy Day with our immediate families and only to join with another family if one’s members are too few for the lamb (Exodus 12:4).  This proves without a doubt that “holy convocation” cannot mean to assemble, but rather to keep the holy days “HOLY.”  Some call attention to the fact that because Israelites were Commanded to ”…turn in the morning and go into their tents”  (Deuteronomy 16:5-7) that this is proof of an assembly.  Those Israelite families that joined with others are the ones GOD Commanded to return to their tents.

The Holy ONE of Israel DOES NOT contradict HIMSELF!  HE would not COMMAND us to “Rest” on the Sabbath Day of Rest and also Command us to “abide ye every man in your place on the seventh day,” and then confuse us by telling us to “assemble” on the “rest of the holy abbath unto the LORD.”  This would make absolutely no sense whatsoever.  Therefore, if the Holy ONE of Israel said don’t bear a burden on the Sabbath Day of Rest (Jeremiah 17:21,22) and that our asses (used for travel) had to also rest, then for sure we have to “abide in our places…on the seventh day.”  Thus, using our cars and paying tolls and public transportation on GOD’s Holy Seventh Day of Rest is absolutely forbidden!  And walking to the Temple or to any meeting place was and still is out of the question all because GOD’s Seventh Day is specifically to be kept as a DAY of  “COMPLETE REST” – Shabatone (as is written in Hebrew).

The wise, obedient ones understand the great importance of observing this Seventh Day of Rest exactly as GOD Commanded and will not add to or diminish from this Law of the “Blessed,” “Sanctified,” and “HolySeventh Day Sabbath.

 “…we will remember the name of the LORD our God.”

Psalm 20:7

“And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee:

for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.”

Psalm 9:10

“… The LORD God of your fathers,

the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac,

and the God of Jacob…this is my name for ever,

and this is my memorial unto all generations.”

Exodus 3:15

“Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant

whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me,

and understand that

I am he:

before me there was no God formed,

neither shall there be after me.

“I, even I, am the LORD;

and beside me there is no saviour.”

Isaiah 43:10,11

The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord.

Next, is the keeping of HIS Laws.

QUESTIONS ON “OLD TESTAMENT” BIBLE TRIVIA TO PONDER:

For I know your manifold transgressions, and your mighty sins: they afflict the just, they take a bribe, and they turn aside the poor in the gate from their right.   Amos 5:12

What is the “Right of the poor”?

***

Depart from me, ye evildoers: for I will keep the commandments of my God.   Psalm 119:115

Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me.   Psalm 101:6

Given this verse, does it mean we should depart from Israelites who believe in JC?  Would King David be joined with Messianics?  Could people who believe in JC be considered the “Faithful of the Land”?

***

QUESTION AND ANSWER:

“…I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me for ever, for the good of them, and of their children after them:   Jeremiah 32:39

What does the Holy ONE of Israel mean by “One Heart and One Way”?

No one can see so far into the future as can the CREATOR GOD of Israel, and when HE cursed  the Children of Israel, HE knew that there would be many, many false religions.  Thus, the reason HE has left for us information regarding “One Way” to serve and worship HIM.

The Christian doctrine has many, many diverse ways of worship – all of which Magnify JC – and none of which enable people to rise above this wicked world and endless suffering.

However, the GOD of Israel gave Moses ONE Way – HIS Book of the Law – for Israelites and the Stranger to serve and worship HIM.   And HE has always claimed that thru keeping of HIS LAW, we attain Righteousness, prosperity, GOD’s Peace, and happiness – all the “GOOD” one needs to live on HIS Earth.

INFO/HINTS FOR HARDY, HEALTHY HEBREWS:

World Health Organization declares swine flu pandemic, first in 41 years

By Maria Cheng and Frank Jordans

Associated Press

Posted: 06/11/2009 06:17:40 AM PDT

Updated: 06/12/2009 06:49:02 AM PDT

GENEVA — The World Health Organization told its member nations it was declaring a swine flu pandemic today — the first global flu epidemic in 41 years — as infections climbed in the United States, Europe, Australia, South America and elsewhere.

In a statement sent to member countries, WHO said it decided to raise the pandemic warning level from phase 5 to 6 — its highest alert — after holding an emergency meeting on swine flu with its experts.

The long-awaited pandemic decision is scientific confirmation that a new flu virus has emerged and is quickly circling the globe. It will trigger drugmakers to speed up production of a swine flu vaccine and prompt governments to devote more money toward efforts to contain the virus.

"At this early stage, the pandemic can be characterized globally as being moderate in severity," WHO said in the statement, urging nations not to close borders or restrict travel and trade. "(We) remain in close dialogue with influenza vaccine manufacturers."

On Wednesday, WHO said 74 countries had reported nearly 27,737 cases of swine flu, including 141 deaths.

The agency has stressed that most cases are mild and require no treatment, but the fear is that a rash of new infections could overwhelm hospitals and health authorities — especially in poorer countries.

Still, about half of the people who have died from swine flu were previously young and healthy – people who are not usually susceptible to flu.

Swine flu is also continuing to spread during the start of summer in the northern hemisphere. Normally, flu viruses disappear with warm weather, but swine flu is proving to be resilient.

The last pandemic — the Hong Kong flu of 1968 — killed about 1 million people. Ordinary flu kills about 250,000 to 500,000 people each year.

Many health experts say WHO's pandemic declaration could have come weeks earlier but the agency became bogged down by politics. In May, several countries urged WHO not to declare a pandemic, fearing it would cause social and economic turmoil.

"This is WHO finally catching up with the facts," said Michael Osterholm, a flu expert at the University of Minnesota who has advised the U.S. government on pandemic preparations.

Despite WHO's hopes, raising the epidemic alert to the highest level will almost certainly spark some panic about spread of swine flu.

Fear has already gripped Argentina, where thousands of people worried about swine flu flooded into hospitals this week, bringing emergency health services in the capital of Buenos Aires to the brink of collapse. Last month, a bus arriving in Argentina from Chile was stoned by people who thought a passenger on it had swine flu. Chile has the most swine flu cases in South America.

In Hong Kong on Thursday, the government ordered all kindergartens and primary schools closed for two weeks after a dozen students tested positive for swine flu — a move that some flu experts would consider an overreaction.

In the United States, where there have been more than 13,000 cases and at least 27 deaths from swine flu, officials at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said the move would not change how the U.S. tackled swine flu.

"Our actions in the past month have been as if there was a pandemic in this country," Glen Nowak, a CDC spokesman, said Thursday.

The U.S. government has already taken steps like increasing availability of flu-fighting medicines and authorizing $1 billion for the development of a new vaccine against the novel virus. In addition, new cases seem to be declining in many parts of the country, U.S. health officials say, as North America moves out of its traditional winter flu season.

Still, Osterholm said the declaration was a wake-up call for the world.

"I think a lot of people think we're done with swine flu, but you can't fall asleep at the wheel," he said. "We don't know what's going to happen in the next 6 to 12 months."

Medical Writer Maria Cheng reported from London. Mike Stobbe in Atlanta, Jill Lawless in London, Dikky Sinn in Hong Kong, Vincente L. Panetta in Buenos Aires and Bradley S. Klapper in Geneva also contributed to this report.

SUPER SPICE SECRETS:

CAN THIS MIRACLE SPICE

STOP CANCER, ALZHEIMER’S AND ARTHRITIS?

By Dr. Mercola

For more than 5,000 years, turmeric has been an important part of Eastern cultural traditions, including traditional Chinese medicine and Ayurveda. Valued for its medicinal properties and warm, peppery flavor, this yellow-orange spice has more recently earned a name for itself in Western medicine as well.

Turmeric comes from the root of the Curcuma longa plant, which is native to Indonesia and southern India, and is widely used as an ingredient in curry dishes and yellow mustard. As research into this powerful spice has increased, it has emerged as one of nature’s most powerful potential healers.

Said Dr. David Frawely, founderand director of the American Institute for Vedic Studies in Santa Fe, New Mexico:

“If I had only one single herb to depend upon for all possible health and dietary needs, I would without much hesitation choose the Indian spice Turmeric. There is little it cannot do in the realm of healing and much that no other herb is able to accomplish.

Turmeric has a broad spectrum of actions, mild but certain effects, and is beneficial for long term and daily usage. Though it is a common spice, few people, including herbalists know of its great value and are using it to the extent possible. It is an herb that one should get to know and live with.”

Turmeric’s Beneficial Effects in a Nutshell

Strengthens and improves digestion

Supports healthy liver function and detox

Purifies your blood

Contains curcuminoids that fight cancer, arthritis, and Alzheimer’s

Curcumin: Turmeric’s Active Anti-Inflammatory “Ingredient”

Most notably turmeric is known for its potent anti-inflammatory properties, which come from curcumin -- the pigment that gives turmeric its yellow-orange color, and which is thought to be responsible for many of its medicinal effects. There are an estimated three to five grams of curcumin in 100 grams of turmeric.

Curcumin has been shown to influence more than 700 genes, and it can inhibit both the activity and the synthesis of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX2) and 5-lipooxygenase (5-LOX), as well as other enzymes that have been implicated in inflammation.[3]

Turmeric’s Cancer-Fighting Properties

In India where turmeric is widely used, the prevalence of four common U.S. cancers -- colon, breast, prostate and lung -- is 10 times lower. In fact, prostate cancer, which is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in U.S. men, is rare in India and this is attributed, in part, to turmeric.

Numerous studies have looked into this potential cancer-fighting link, with promising results. For instance, curcumin has been found to:

As for the results of research studies, a study in Biochemical Pharmacology found that curcumin can slow the spread of breast cancer cells to the lungs in mice.[4]

"Curcumin acts against transcription factors, which are like a master switch," said lead researcher, Bharat Aggarwal. "Transcription factors regulate all the genes needed for tumors to form. When we turn them off, we shut down some genes that are involved in the growth and invasion of cancer cells."

A second study in Biochemical Pharmacology also found that curcumin inhibits the activation of NF-kappaB, a regulatory molecule that signals genes to produce a slew of inflammatory molecules (including TNF, COX-2 and IL-6) that promote cancer cell growth.[5]

Turmeric’s Essential Role for Your Liver

Your liver’s primary role is to process and remove toxins carried in your bloodstream. When functioning at its peak, it can filter up to two liters of blood per minute and easily break apart toxic molecules to reduce their toxicity. Your liver is also a crucial part of vitamin, mineral, protein, fat, carbohydrate and hormonal metabolism.

However, poor diet, allergens, pollution and stress can cause your liver to become sluggish, and this can impair its vital functions. This is where turmeric can be a very useful part of your liver support system. Studies have shown that it:
