While surfing the net the
other day I came across this little piece, which speaks volumes about how we got
to where we are today. I do not
know who the author is.
A WARMONGER EXPLAINS WAR TO A PEACE-NIK
PeaceNik: Why did you say we are we
invading Iraq?
WarMonger: We
are invading Iraq because it is in violation of Security Council Resolution
1441. A country cannot be allowed to violate Security Council Resolutions.
PEACENIK: But I thought many
of our allies, including Israel, were in violation of more Security Council
resolutions than Iraq.
WARMONGER: It's not just about UN
resolutions. The main point is that Iraq could have weapons of mass destruction,
and the first sign of a smoking gun could well be a mushroom cloud over NY.
PEACENIK: Mushroom cloud?
But I thought the weapons inspectors said Iraq had no nuclear weapons.
WARMONGER: Yes, but
biological and chemical weapons are the issue.
PEACENIK: But I thought Iraq did not
have any long-range missiles for attacking us or our allies with such weapons.
WARMONGER: The risk is not Iraq
directly attacking us, but rather terrorists networks that Iraq could sell the
weapons to.
PEACENIK: But
couldn't virtually any country sell chemical or biological materials? We sold
quite a bit to Iraq in the eighties ourselves, didn't we?
WARMONGER: That's ancient history.
Look, Saddam Hussein is an evil man that has an undeniable track record of
repressing his own people since the early eighties. He gasses his enemies.
Everyone agrees that he is a power-hungry-lunatic murderer.
PEACENIK: We sold chemical and
biological materials to a power-hungry lunatic murderer?
WARMONGER: The issue is not what we
sold, but rather what Saddam did. He is the one that launched a pre-emptive
first strike on Kuwait.
PEACENIK: A pre-emptive first strike
does sound bad. But didn't our ambassador to Iraq, April Gillespie, know about
and green-light ofthe invasion of Kuwait?
WARMONGER: Let's deal with the present,
shall we? As of today, Iraq could sell its biological and chemical weapons to Al
Quaida. Osama BinLaden himself
released an audio tape calling on Iraqis to suicide-attack us, proving a
partnership between the two.
PEACENIK: Osama Bin Laden? Wasn't the
point of invading Afghanistan to kill him?
WARMONGER: Actually, it's not 100%
certain that it's really Osama Bin Laden on the tapes. But the lesson from the
tape is the same: there could easily be a partnership between al-Qaida and
Saddam Hussein unless we act.
PEACENIK: Is this the same audio tape
where Osama Bin Laden labels Saddam a secular infidel?
WARMONGER: You're missing the point by
just focusing on the tape. Powell presented a strong case against Iraq.
PEACENIK: He did?
WARMONGER: Yes, he showed satellite
pictures of an Al Qaida poison factory in Iraq.
PEACENIK: But didn't that turn out to
be a harmless shack in the part of Iraq controlled by the Kurdish opposition?
WARMONGER: And a British
intelligence report...
PEACENIK: Didn't that turn out to be
copied from an out-of-date graduate student paper?
WARMONGER: And reports of mobile
weapons labs...
PEACENIK:
Weren't those just artistic renderings?
WARMONGER: And reports of Iraqis
scuttling and hiding evidence from inspectors...
PEACENIK: Wasn't that evidence
contradicted by the chief weapons inspector, Hans Blix?
WARMONGER: Yes, but there is plenty of
other hard evidence that cannot be revealed because it would compromise our
security.
PEACENIK: So there
is no publicly available evidence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq?
WARMONGER: The inspectors
are not detectives, it's not their JOB to find evidence. You're missing the
point.
PEACENIK: So what is
the point?
WARMONGER: The
main point is that we are invading Iraq because resolution
1441 threatened
"severe consequences." If we do not act, the Security Council will become an
irrelevant debating society.
PEACENIK: So the main point is to
uphold the rulings of the Security Council?
WARMONGER: Absolutely....unless it
rules against us.
PEACENIK:
And what if it does rule against us?
WARMONGER: In that case, we must lead a
coalition of the willing to invade Iraq.
PEACENIK: Coalition of the willing?
Who's that?
WARMONGER:
Britain, Turkey, Bulgaria, Spain, and Italy, for starters.
PEACENIK: I thought Turkey refused to
help us unless we gave them tens of billions of dollars.
WARMONGER: Nevertheless, they may now
be willing.
PEACENIK: I
thought public opinion in all those countries was against war.
WARMONGER: Current public opinion is
irrelevant. The majority expresses its will by electing leaders to make
decisions.
PEACENIK: So it's
the decisions of leaders elected by the majority that is important?
WARMONGER: Yes.
PEACENIK: But George Bush wasn't
elected by voters. He was selected by the U.S. Supreme C...
WARMONGER: I mean, we must support the
decisions of our leaders, however they were elected, because they are acting in
our best interest. This is about being a patriot. That's the bottom line.
PEACENIK: So if we do not
support the decisions of the president, we are not patriotic?
WARMONGER: I never said that.
PEACENIK: So what are you
saying? Why are we invading Iraq?
WARMONGER: As I said, because there is
a chance that they have weapons of mass destruction that threaten us and our
allies.
PEACENIK: But the
inspectors have not been able to find any such weapons.
WARMONGER: Iraq is obviously hiding
them.
PEACENIK: You know
this? How?
WARMONGER:
Because we know they had the weapons ten years ago, and they are still
unaccounted for.
PEACENIK:
The weapons we sold them, you mean?
WARMONGER: Precisely.
PEACENIK: But I thought those
biological and chemical weapons would degrade to an unusable state over ten
years.
WARMONGER: But there
is a chance that some have not degraded.
PEACENIK: So as long as there is even a
small chance that such weapons exist, we must invade?
WARMONGER: Exactly.
PEACENIK: But North Korea actually has
large amounts of usable chemical, biological, AND nuclear weapons, AND long
range missiles that can reach the West Coast AND it has expelled nuclear weapons
inspectors, AND threatened to turn America into a sea of fire.
WARMONGER: That's a diplomatic issue.
PEACENIK: So why are we
invading Iraq instead of using diplomacy?
WARMONGER: Aren't you listening? We are
invading Iraq because we cannot allow the inspections to drag on indefinitely.
Iraq has been delaying, deceiving, and denying for over ten years, and
inspections cost us tens of millions.
PEACENIK: But I thought war would cost
us tens of billions.
WARMONGER: Yes, but this is not about
money. This is about security.
PEACENIK: But wouldn't a pre-emptive
war against Iraq ignite radical Muslim sentiments against us, and decrease our
security?
WARMONGER: Possibly, but we must not
allow the terrorists to change the way we live. Once we do that, the terrorists
have already won.
PEACENIK:
So what is the purpose of the Department of Homeland Security, color-coded
terror alerts, and the Patriot Act? Don't these change the way we live?
WARMONGER: I thought you had
questions about Iraq.
PEACENIK: I do. Why are we invading
Iraq?
WARMONGER: For the
last time, we are invading Iraq because the world has called on Saddam Hussein
to disarm, and he has failed to do so. He must now face the consequences.
PEACENIK: So, likewise, if
the world called on us to do something, such as find a peaceful solution, we
would have an obligation to listen?
WARMONGER: By "world", I meant the
United Nations.
PEACENIK:
So, we have an obligation to listen to the United Nations?
WARMONGER: By "United Nations" I meant
the Security Council.
PEACENIK: So, we have an obligation to
listen to the Security Council?
WARMONGER: I meant the majority of the
Security Council.
PEACENIK:
So, we have an obligation to listen to the majority of the Security Council?
WARMONGER: Well... there
could be an unreasonable veto.
PEACENIK: In which case?
WARMONGER: In which case, we have an
obligation to ignore the veto.
PEACENIK: And if the majority of the
Security Council does not support us at all?
WARMONGER: Then we have an obligation
to ignore the Security Council.
PEACENIK: That makes no sense.
WARMONGER: If you love Iraq
so much, you should move there. Or
maybe France, with all the other cheese-eating surrender monkeys. It's time to
boycott their wine and cheese, no doubt about that.

The first “Sign” in the Heavens to provide
the start of days, years and “seasons” can only begin with the “Sighting” of the
New Moon Crescent - that which we can “see” in order for it to serve as a
“Sign” and enable us to begin counting our days. Just imagine not being able to
“see” the moon at all. How then
could it be appointed for seasons?
“The natural thought might be that the moon is like a living being. It is born, grows, reaches maximum size, then fades and dies, going through all these stages in one month. Even today, we still talk of the thin crescent in the western sky as a new moon and the thin crescent in the eastern sky a month later as the old moon. Half way between is the full moon. As I explained earlier, this cycle of phases of the moon established the month as a unit of time, and the first calendars were based on this.” ISAAC ASIMOV’S GUIDE TO EARTH AND SPACE, pages 79 and 80
In
that the King of Israel is supposed to be a “Righteous Judge” (II Chronicles 1:11),
it stands to reason that he is also supposed to be a “Righteous Role Model.” Thus, if the King that GOD appoints over
Israel observes a “feast” on the day of the New Moon, then wisdom
tells the Nation of Israel to do likewise.
King Saul and the anointed David
observed this service (I Samuel 20th Chapter).
To
their and our hurt our forefathers worshipped all manner of symbols: the sun, moon, stars, and images of gold
and silver. To observe the “Sign”
in the heavens as being the New Moon “Sighting” is NOT worshipping the moon, but
rather it is doing as we are COMMANDED in Genesis 1:14:
“And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:”

Contrary to the belief of some Israelites,
the moon does indeed shine! Whether
the Moon shines on its own or with the aid of the sun, IT STILL SHINES! And the fact that Scripture attests to
this fact, is what’s important: Isaiah 60:19; Jeremiah 31:35; and Ezekiel
32:7. Therefore, Genesis 1:14 is proof enough that we
must use the shining New Moon
Crescents as “…SIGNS, AND FOR
SEASONS, AND FOR DAYS, AND FOR YEARS:”
Some Israelites, along with White Jews, use
the dark phase of the moon to determine the start of a new month. If the dark phase of the moon lasts for
“2-3 days,” then which of these days is supposed to be the distinguishing “Sign” that determines the First Day of
the month? Or do we just
arbitrarily select either or depending on the imaginations of our hearts? On the contrary, with the use of
the sighted “Sign” of the New Moon
Crescent in the Heavens we eliminate any
confusion as to which day IS the First Day of the month. The only problem that presents itself is
cloud coverage that prevents the ability to see the New Moon Crescent. Nonetheless, one can easily
distinguish the New Moon Crescent “Sighting” from all the other phases due to
its thin sliver and its low position in the heavens, and the reason is that no two days or rather phases of the
visible moon are alike.
Thus, to use the New Moon Crescent as the “Sign” in the heavens, as we
are COMMANDED to do for our seasons, days, and years, negates the belief that
the “commandment was given to the luminaries.” The “luminaries” fulfill GOD’s
Commandments: the sun shines and
the moon orbits the Earth. They
have no need to determine seasons, days, and years. Hence, our New Moons are obviously of more
spiritual significance to the Nation of Israel than we are aware. And for sure, the TRUTH concerning them
are in GOD’s WORD to HIS Prophets/Seers - not the White Jews or other
Gentiles. All we need do is use
wisdom, discern what’s written in Scripture, and accept it!
Unless
there is an emergency, please try not to buy or sell on this day. Conduct all financial and business
transactions prior to the day of the New Moon. Interesting enough, II Kings 4:23,24
constitutes the New Moon as being a day to seek “the man of God.” Although the New Moon is NOT a Day of Rest,
Our GOD did set it aside for recognition:
“Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.” Psalm 81:3
“And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.” Isaiah 66:23
“…When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn?…” Amos 8:5
Probably, the Scripture that most determines and clarifies the fact that our New Moons are Feast Days is Ezekiel 45:17:
“And it shall be the prince’s part to give burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and drink offerings, in the feasts, and in the NEW MOONS, and in the Sabbaths, in ALL SOLEMNITIES of the house of Israel: he shall prepare the sin offering, and the meat offering, and the burnt offering, and the peace offerings, to make reconciliation for the HOUSE OF ISRAEL.” (Caps. are mine.)
Unequivocally, our New Moons
are included in these “SOLEMNITIES” mentioned in Ezekiel 45:17.
“Likewise the people of the land shall worship at the door of this gate before the LORD in the Sabbaths [Feasts – NOT 7th Day Sabbaths*] and in the NEW MOONS.” Ezekiel 46:3 (Brackets are mine.)
Thereby, this verse justifies the First Day of each month being our “Feast” Day. It should be realized that the Feast Days that Our GOD selected (Leviticus 23rd Chapter) are “Holy Convocations,” i.e., on these days we cannot do any work. However, because King Saul observed the New Moon as a Feast Day, we have every reason to do so, as well. We also have learned that our forefathers traveled to the Temple to worship the Holy ONE on the New Moon (II Kings 4:23; Ezekiel 45:17; and Ezekiel 46:1), and when HE has HIS Temple rebuilt, then we will again be able to resume this service and worship.
When we return to our heritage and worship YIHOVAH according to HIS Ways, then we can establish our own “Calendar of the Universe,” whereby, the days of the New Moon and all GOD’s Holy Days will be recognized by the whole entire World. And I am sure that it will be the desire of the Righteous Remnant and ALL the world to make a Feast to the Most High GOD of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob/Israel every First Day of the Month.
ALSO, I believe that if Lot (Genesis 19:3) and Abraham (Genesis 21:8) can proclaim “Feasts,” then there is no stipulation for NOT establishing Feast Days, as we so desire. Therefore, to proclaim a Feast to EXALT the Holy ONE of Israel on the First Day of each month is quite acceptable - given the Scripture (above) regarding worshipping Our LORD GOD of ISRAEL, Our SAVIOR, on the New Moons. We should know that throughout the Tanakh Hebrew Israelites called for “feasts” for various occasions. Therefore, we are within our rights to observe a Feast every New Moon to Our GOD, the GOD of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob/Israel. And those of us who love this WONDERFUL GOD and who choose HIM to EXALT HIM for being the ONLY LORD and SAVIOR can be at liberty to use the day of the New Moon to show forth HIS PRAISE in a “feast” and worship HIM in Jerusalem FOREVER.

up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his

Fitness walking is easy, safe and inexpensive. It’s aerobic, it burns calories, and it’s an ideal fat-burning activity. It conditions the heart, improves muscle tone and strength, relieves stress, and can help with back pain, osteoporosis, respiratory problems, diabetes, arthritis, cardiac rehabilitation and a variety of other health problems. Walking is an injury-free way for the over 50s to keep fit, and fit kids are fitter when all the family walks together.
Like millions of other people, we used to be overweight and unfit and we were tired of trying every exercise and diet routine under the sun - jogging, cycling, swimming, squash, skipping, exercise bikes and a dozen other exercise and diet routines available in print and video. We were part of the 90 per cent of people who continually fail. We were tired, bored and we had made little progress in losing weight and getting fit.
Until we
discovered fitness walking.
We had always loved walking, but we had tended to walk at weekends when we had more time. Discovering fitness walking was like finding the Holy Grail of fitness. Instead of waiting for the weekend, we decided to get out and walk four or five times a week, starting at our own front door and doing a circuit around the block and back. And we set out to walk at a brisker pace, stepping up our speed to 3.5 to 4 miles per hour.
Within a month we were regularly doing 30 minute walks several times a week, and we had more energy to get through the day. We felt fitter and more alert and with the low-fat, high-fibre diet we had begun, the pounds were beginning to drop off.
The rest, as they say, is history. We put our fitness walking experiences down on paper and they became a popular bestseller THE WALKING DIET.
Everywhere we have travelled, people have wanted to know more and more about fitness walking and what it can do for them. The World Health Organisation has referred to walking as 'the forgotten art'. Increasing numbers of people throughout the world are now re-discovering for themselves the fitness and weight-loss benefits of regular fitness walking.
