Tribute to the New Moon
Revised:
PLEASE TAKE PART IN
“SIGHTING” THE NEW MOON
<<<The First Day of the
“HEBREW” Month>>>
START THE NEXT NEW MOON
WATCH ON THE EVENINGS OF
<<<JANUARY 3,4,5, 2002>>>
BY LOOKING IN THE “WEST”
JUST ABOVE THE HORIZON.
“He appointed the moon for
seasons…”
Psalm
104:19
The first “Sign” in the Heavens to provide
the start of days, years and “seasons” can only begin with the “Sighting” of the
New Moon Crescent - that which we can “see” in order for it to serve as a
“Sign” and enable us to begin counting our days. Just imagine not being able to
“see” the moon at all. How then
could it be appointed for seasons?
“The natural thought might be that the moon is like a living being. It is born, grows, reaches maximum size, then fades and dies, going through all these stages in one month. Even today, we still talk of the thin crescent in the western sky as a new moon and the thin crescent in the eastern sky a month later as the old moon. Half way between is the full moon. As I explained earlier, this cycle of phases of the moon established the month as a unit of time, and the first calendars were based on this.” ISAAC ASIMOV’S GUIDE TO EARTH AND SPACE, pages 79 and 80
In
that the King of Israel is supposed to be a “Righteous Judge” (II Chronicles 1:11),
it stands to reason that he is also supposed to be a “Righteous Role Model.” Thus, if the King that GOD appoints over
Israel observes a “feast” on the day of the New Moon, then wisdom
tells the Nation of Israel to do likewise.
King Saul and the anointed David
observed this service (I Samuel 20th Chapter).
To
their and our hurt our forefathers worshipped all manner of symbols: the sun, moon, stars, and images of gold
and silver. To observe the “Sign”
in the heavens as being the New Moon “Sighting” is NOT worshipping the moon, but
rather it is doing as we are COMMANDED in Genesis 1:14:
“And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:”
***
“Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.
“Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.
“Blow up the trumpet in the
new moon, in the time appointed,
on our solemn feast day.
“For this was a statute for Israel, and a law of the God of Jacob.”
Psalm 81:1 - 4
(A Psalm of Asaph, the Seer
–
one who should be well informed about GOD’s Ways)
“Also in the day of your gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow with the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be to you for
a memorial before your God: I am the LORD your God.”
Numbers 10:10
Contrary to the belief of some Israelites,
the moon does indeed shine! Whether
the Moon shines on its own or with the aid of the sun, IT STILL SHINES! And the fact that Scripture attests to
this fact, is what’s important: Isaiah 60:19; Jeremiah 31:35; and Ezekiel
32:7. Therefore, Genesis 1:14 is proof enough that we
must use the shining New Moon
Crescents as “…SIGNS, AND FOR
SEASONS, AND FOR DAYS, AND FOR YEARS:”
Some Israelites, along with White Jews, use
the dark phase of the moon to determine the start of a new month. If the dark phase of the moon lasts for
“2-3 days,” then which of these days is supposed to be the distinguishing “Sign” that determines the First Day of
the month? Or do we just
arbitrarily select either or depending on the imaginations of our hearts? On the contrary, with the use of
the sighted “Sign” of the New Moon
Crescent in the Heavens we eliminate any
confusion as to which day IS the First Day of the month. The only problem that presents itself is
cloud coverage that prevents the ability to see the New Moon Crescent. Nonetheless, one can easily
distinguish the New Moon Crescent “Sighting” from all the other phases due to
its thin sliver and its low position in the heavens, and the reason is that no two days or rather phases of the
visible moon are alike.
Thus, to use the New Moon Crescent as the “Sign” in the heavens, as we
are COMMANDED to do for our seasons, days, and years, negates the belief that
the “commandment was given to the luminaries.” The “luminaries” fulfill GOD’s
Commandments: the sun shines and
the moon orbits the Earth. They
have no need to determine seasons, days, and years. Hence, our New Moons are obviously of more
spiritual significance to the Nation of Israel than we are aware. And for sure, the TRUTH concerning them
are in GOD’s WORD to HIS Prophets/Seers - not the White Jews or other
Gentiles. All we need do is use
wisdom, discern what’s written in Scripture, and accept it!
Unless
there is an emergency, please try not to buy or sell on this day. Conduct all financial and business
transactions prior to the day of the New Moon. Interesting enough, II Kings 4:23,24
constitutes the New Moon as being a day to seek “the man of God.” Although the New Moon is NOT a Day of Rest,
Our GOD did set it aside for recognition:
“Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.” Psalm 81:3
“And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.” Isaiah 66:23
“…When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn?…” Amos 8:5
Probably, the Scripture that most determines and clarifies the fact that our New Moons are Feast Days is Ezekiel 45:17:
“And it shall be the prince’s part to give burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and drink offerings, in the feasts, and in the NEW MOONS, and in the Sabbaths, in ALL SOLEMNITIES of the house of Israel: he shall prepare the sin offering, and the meat offering, and the burnt offering, and the peace offerings, to make reconciliation for the HOUSE OF ISRAEL.” (Caps. are mine.)
Unequivocally, our New Moons
are included in these “SOLEMNITIES” mentioned in Ezekiel 45:17.
“Likewise the people of the land shall worship at the door of this gate before the LORD in the Sabbaths [Feasts – NOT 7th Day Sabbaths*] and in the NEW MOONS.” Ezekiel 46:3 (Brackets are mine.)
Thereby, this verse justifies the First Day of each month being our “Feast” Day. It should be realized that the Feast Days that Our GOD selected are “Holy Convocations,” i.e., on these days we cannot do any work. However, because King Saul observed the New Moon as a Feast Day, we have every reason to do so, as well. We also have learned that our forefathers traveled to the Temple to worship the Holy ONE on the New Moon (II Kings 4:23 and Ezekiel 45:17), and when HE has HIS Temple rebuilt, then we will again be able to resume this service.
When we return to our heritage and worship YIHOVAH according to HIS Ways, then we can establish our own “Calendar of the Universe,” whereby, the days of the New Moon and all GOD’s Holy Days will be recognized by the whole entire World. And I am sure that it will be the desire of the Righteous Remnant and ALL the world to make a Feast to the Most High GOD of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob/Israel every First Day of the Month.
I believe that if King Solomon can make a Feast Day in honor of the True and Living GOD, then so can we make a Feast every New Moon, i.e., those of us who love this WONDERFUL GOD and who choose HIM to EXALT HIM to be Our ONLY LORD and SAVIOR.
“And Solomon awoke; and,
behold, it was a dream. And he came
to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and offered
up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his
servants.”

HINTS FOR HARDY, HEALTHY HEBREWS:
What are your feelings about fish, or have you ever given it any thought? I have always loved fish, and the best fish I have ever tasted is one called “cassava fish” found in Liberia. My mouth waters every time I think about that fish smothered with spicy (sweet) potato greens fried in tomato paste and onions over rice. MAN!!! You could bite your finger eating that dish! Sigh! Someone once told me the name of a fish that closely resembles the cassava fish, but I have forgotten what it is. If I remember, I’ll let you know.
Unfortunately, everyone does not like fish. And if you are one of these people, I urge you to read the following article that behooves you to find a fish (with fins and scales of course) to your liking:
FISH OIL
AND TOENAILS!
By Dr. Sanjay
Gupta
“IF YOU’RE confused by all the news about the health effects of eating fish, you’re not alone. On the one hand, the omega-3 fatty acids in fish are known to reduce the risk of heart disease, as the American Heart Association reminded us a few weeks ago when it restated its recommendation that everybody eat at least two fish servings a week. On the other hand, fish that feed in contaminated waterways contain high levels of mercury, which can lead to cognitive problems in developing brains. That’s why pregnant women and nursing mothers are advised to limit their consumption.
As if that weren’t confusing enough, two new studies published last week in the New England Journal of Medicine investigated the possible effects of mercury on the heart, and they seem to have reached contradictory conclusions. One found no clear link between mercury levels and heart disease; the other found that men with high levels of mercury in their toenails were more likely to suffer a heart attack than those with low levels.
What are we to make of this? The first thing to remember is that this is how science proceeds, by fits and starts and seemingly contradictory results that get resolved only by further study. The second is that no all fish are created equal.
Compared with all the other things you might eat, fish are an excellent source of protein. They tend to eat algae as part of other natural life cycle, converting it into omega-3 fatty acids that can improve your cholesterol profile. But it’s also true that our waterways have become increasingly contaminated with all sorts of pollutants, including mercury, and that these pollutants tend to accumulate at different levels in different species. The fish most at risk are predators high in the pelagic food chain, such as swordfish and sharks.
It was to test the effects of mercury on the heart that the two new studies compared the mercury levels in clippings from toenails, where heavy metals tend to be deposited. In one study, researchers led by Dr. Eliseo Guallar at Johns Hopkins found that European and Israeli men with highest mercury levels were nearly 2.2 times as likely to have a heart attack as those with the lowest levels. The other study, led by Dr. Walter Willett at the Harvard School of Public Health, looked at a selection of American men and found no connection between mercury exposure and risk of heart disease, although Willett told me a “weak association” cannot be ruled out.
For most of us, eating two servings of fish a week should not pose any problems. Guallar, who hails from coastal Spain, continues to flavour his paella with salmon, which has negligible mercury levels. Willett eats swordfish only about twice a month – because of its expense, not any fear of mercury. Fish-oil supplements are high in omega-3 fatty acids and probably don’t contain as much mercury as whole fish. But they don’t taste nearly as good.
The writer is a neurosurgeon and CNN medical correspondent. This article is reprinted from Time Magazine.”

EDITORIAL PERSPECTIVE:
WE HAVE
NO TIME TO WASTE!
SEEK YE
THE LORD,
WHILE HE
MAY BE FOUND!
“Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him
while he is near:”
Isaiah 55:6
December 29, 2002
So many of us will agree that we are living in the “Latter Days,” and those in agreement will admit that they have no answers as to what we should be accomplishing while we wait on the LORD OUR GOD, the Holy ONE of Israel. This is not good, for GOD’s Chosen Ones should all be aware of the events taking place at this most critical time in our lives:
“Shall a
trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD
hath not done it?
“Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he
revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.
“The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the Lord GOD hath spoken, who can but prophesy?” Amos 3:6 – 8
Some would swear, “But all GOD’s Prophets are dead! So, from where do we now attain revelations?”
The Prophet
Moses said, “…would God that all the LORD'S people were prophets, and that the LORD would put his spirit
upon them!”
Unfortunately, this was
never the case, and if it had been maybe our forefathers would have not rebelled
against the Holy ONE and would have kept HIS Law. But I would prefer that Our Holy ONE of
Israel had put HIS Law in our hearts a long time ago.
Be that
as it wasn’t, the Righteous Prophets of
the Holy ONE might all be dead, but their Messages (GOD’s WORD) live for those
of us alive today. And
they are so clear and so amplified that we are forced to give them our undivided
attention even if we do not agree with what’s written. Much Scripture is discussed today
about what we should and should not be doing, and this at least keeps GOD’s
Truth before us and in the light, whether we accept it or
not.
Although Our Holy ONE of Israel revealed HIS Secrets
to HIS Prophets, we should know that it was for a most profound reason – to
share them with the Children of Israel, GOD’s Chosen People, the SEED of the
Biblical Israelites. However, if
our hearts are like those of our evil, wicked, and rebellious forefathers,
please realize that these “Secrets” will not be revealed and understood by
all. Only those special Ones that
seek the Holy ONE of Israel in Truth to follow HIS Ways in Righteousness will
understand and profit from this wisdom.
“Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the LORD my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land whither ye go to possess it.
“Keep
therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in
the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely
this great nation is a wise and
understanding people.
“For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God
is in all things that we call upon him for?
“And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes
and judgments so righteous as all
this law, which I set before you this day?
“Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons;” Deuteronomy 4:5 – 9
“That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.” Deuteronomy 30:20
“Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him
while he is near:”
Isaiah 55:6
IS THERE
A CONNECTION BETWEEN
USING
GOD’s JUDGMENT AND MANIFESTING RIGHTEOUSNESS?
“But the LORD of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and
God that is holy shall be sanctified in
righteousness.”
Isaiah
5:16
In that we are GOD’s Chosen People, we are quite strange and uncharacteristic of what’s written in the “Old Testament” especially those of us in the knowledge of GOD’s Truth! Quite well we know that GOD’s Laws, Statutes, and Judgment must be a part of our lives, and that they must reign supreme before us if we are going to return to our GOD of Israel and our heritage. Unbelievably though, some of us don’t accept that “evening” begins each new day, and that a “DAY” is made up of 24 hours from sundown to sundown. And then we have a few who observe a “floating” Seventh Day of Rest throughout the year that can fall on any day of the week. Yes, you read correctly! We acknowledge GOD’s dietary laws, we accept GOD’s Seventh Days of Rest, albeit we keep it as we see fit, and we agree on the observance of GOD’s Holy Feast Days, with the exception of the Feast of Weeks and the New Moon observance. But be that as it may, few if any speak out in support of GOD’s JUDGMENTS! And this is just another hot issue that we shy away from and wish and hope that no one will bring to the table.
Probably we all have things that we do that might
not be so kosher with the Holy ONE and HIS Book of the Law (like HE doesn’t know
about it), and therefore, rather than have fingers pointed at us, we choose not
to discuss the matters and be cited in violation of GOD’s Law and/or HIS WORD to
HIS Prophets. And rather than
discuss whatever the issue, we would prefer that it is believed that we are in
accordance with doing GOD’s Will.
That which ALL of us should be concerned with is doing, presenting, and
representing GOD’s Truth for HIS Holy Name’s Sake.
However, let me explain something regarding GOD’s Righteous Judgments that might have gone unnoticed. There is a profound and direct connection in using GOD’s Judgments and in living Righteously.
If ALL Israelites will accept the fact that we are bound to GOD’s Law and will use HIS Judgments in view of wrong doings, then they will also naturally learn NOT to commit iniquity. No one really wants to be punished, and with a JUDGMENT standing by to serve swift JUSTICE, Israelites won’t be so quick to sin against the Holy ONE. And those who have the desire to live Righteously, obviously have it in their hearts to keep ALL GOD’s Laws, the COMMANDMENTS, STATUTES, and JUDGMENTS. It’s also called wanting to do what’s RIGHT! Consider the following Scripture:
“Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment: thou shalt not respect the person of the poor, nor honour the person of the mighty: but in righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbour.” Leviticus 19:15
“Ye shall not respect persons in judgment; but ye shall hear the small as well as the great; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God's: and the cause that is too hard for you, bring it unto me, and I will hear it.” Deuteronomy 1:17
“Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them.
“Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the LORD thy God shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he sware unto thy fathers:” Deuteronomy 7:11,12
“Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.” Isaiah 1:17
“How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers.” Isaiah 1:21
“And I will restore thy
judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: afterward thou
shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful
city.
“Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness.
“And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the LORD shall be consumed.” Isaiah 1:26 - 28
And thus, the reason the Holy ONE of Israel wants
HIS Chosen People USING HIS RIGHTEOUS JUDGMENTS IS TO “PUT THE EVIL AWAY FROM
AMONG” THE NATION OF ISRAEL:
“And the judges shall make diligent inquisition: and, behold, if the witness be a false witness, and hath testified falsely against his brother;
“Then shall
ye do unto him, as he had thought to have done unto his brother: so shalt thou put the evil away from among
you.
“And those which remain shall hear, and fear, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil among you.” Deuteronomy 19:18 - 20
The reason is unequivocally and without question to “put evil away from among you” (Deuteronomy 17:7; 21:21; 22:21; 22:24; 24:7). And in doing so, we will learn to FEAR the Holy ONE of Israel. Doesn’t it make sense to start using GOD’s Righteous Judgment now? Understand me, please, as this is very important. I do not condone anyone going out and killing anyone at this time, but I do condone coming forward and showing Israelites their transgressions! There is a time and place to carry out capital and corporal punishment, but that time is not now.
“And
[Jehoshaphat] said to the judges, Take
heed what ye do: for ye judge not for man, but for the LORD, who is with you in the
judgment.
“Wherefore now let the fear of the LORD be upon you; take heed and do it: for there is no iniquity with the LORD our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of gifts.
“Moreover in Jerusalem did Jehoshaphat set
of the Levites, and of the priests,
and of the chief of the fathers of Israel, for the judgment of the LORD, and for
controversies, when they returned to Jerusalem.
“And he
charged them, saying, Thus shall ye do in the fear of the LORD, faithfully, and
with a perfect heart.” II Chronicles 19:6 - 9
And I assure you that this is but a fraction of significant information regarding how important it is to Our Holy ONE of Israel that we observe the keeping of HIS Righteous Judgments.
“Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God.” Deuteronomy 18:13
Throughout GOD’s Law and the rest of the “Old Testament,” GOD’s Prophets cautioned us to keep HIS Law and to serve and worship ONLY HIM! And keeping his Law entails using Righteous Judgment.
If there is a positive connection between using GOD’s Judgments and attaining Righteousness, then all we need do is comply, and do it right this time! There’s just something about that LAW that makes it most AWESOME and ASTOUNDING! And without a doubt, it’s the MARVELOUS WORK of the CREATOR, Our LORD GOD of Israel, and it is therefore, more powerful than we can ever imagine.
Just think about all that has transpired since our forefathers inhabited the land. Deuteronomy 28th Chapter explains in frightening detail exactly what would happen to the Israelites if they did not keep GOD’s Law. And every word was fulfilled and became the nightmare of all curses that fell upon the Children of Israel even worse than what’s written (Isaiah 47:6). And not one of these curses failed to cause much pain and suffering – not one! Shouldn’t this speak volumes about GOD’s Book of the Law? Shouldn’t we realize how POWERFUL this Law really is and what it means to the Most High GOD of Israel for us to live and do all of them? Shouldn’t there be a desire in our heart and soul to be OBEDIENT and observe this Divine Law since it has proven itself to be GOD’s Truth, GOD’s WORD and WORKS that HE Created especially for us, HIS Chosen Ones?
